How much weight should a guy be able to bench press?!

Question: Picture the average 5'8" guy who is 25.... what is a reasonable goal for weight lifting? Like 10 reps in the gym without really straining a lot.

Me or your lady hot stuff!

BTW, I'm just curious - around what weight would you say that is for the average lady? I'm guessing around 120 lbs perhaps - maybe 130? Report It

I think you're supposed to be able to bench like 3/4 of your weight or something. I bench a lot more then I should.

depends on ur weight dude, not ur height

Press 2 oranges -drink repeat the following day!

It depends on yur strength.Cuz u dont wana bench to much

He should be able to Bench his body weight atleast once or more.

150 pounds and straining on the last rep. If you are not straining then why are you pushing weights?

at least ur weight,i weigh bout 145 and bench 165 im 17.

If you can bench your own weight without straining then you are stronger then the average person..As for me I am 210 and i can bench 225 very easily.

    250 lbs at least

I have repeatedly said this.....AN AVERAGE PERSON(from birth!) can bench press his/her own body weight.....take a new born child....out him/her in waist deep water...see wht happens....WE HUMANS KNOW HOW TO SWIM FROM BIRTH!!!....it is just tht we are kept so cosy...that in time we forget to do these things....ideally a man should be able to lift his own weight...does not matter if ur fat, slim ...w/e....but since we don't /haven't done it ina while we gotta start really low...untill we reach our goal...

depends on your health wieght and motivation...
take thing ones step at a time and work your way up

i would guess you should be able to lift your weight.
start of slow though so you don't strain yourself
