Foreskin question?!

Question: My four year old is not circumcized. I teach him to pull back the foreskin when bathing to clean, but is he supposed to do it when he pees too?

At his age, if the foreskin slides back without needing to force it, it's okay to wash (or just rinse with water) when he showers. If he has to force it, though, then he shouldn't.

As for peeing, he doesn't need to. I don't. The only reason he should pull it back when peeing is if he has a long foreskin and it causes urine to spray, but you didn't mention that problem, so I'm guessing he doesn't. Of course, he can pull it back if he wants to. Mine slides back a little when I grab it. It's a personal preference.

It never hurts to pull back the foreskin after he pees to make sure he gets everything and there isn't any stray drips that will cause any infections or bacteria to lurk around. Better safe than sorry!

You should never force the foreskin back, it will happen naturally from around 3years on. Forcing it back before its ready will do more damage than a little bit of pee would. Let nature take its cause.

The foreskin in babies and toddlers is there to protect the penis...
NEVER be too hasty in making him pull it back.
It will loosen in time on it's own.
Usually by the time he is six or seven the foreskin will Itch a little, and he will fumble there.
It will come loose then.
He can pull it back in the mean time, but do not force it open EVER...
Yes, all men pull back the foreskin when they pee, but that is usually to be able to have a clear stream and to be able to aim properly.
Do not let this stress you or your toddler.
If by the time he is seven it is still not loos, take him to the doc, they will do a simple stretching under a little anesthetic, but for now, just be cool about it

Might make a cleaner toilet if you encourage him to pull it back a bit saves spraying everywhere, never force it.
