At the risk of sounding like your coach, just use the damn showers.

Be the leader. If everyone else notices that girls are shying away from guys that didn't shower, you'll probably have trouble finding space and hot water.

I always feel better when I'm clean.

Sporting goods stores should have an inexpensive holder for a bar of soap, the school should provide towels, and to borrow a trick from a friend, keep refilling the travel bottles of shampoo from your regular stock at home. Your parents will understand another stick or can of deoderant and some cheap flip flops.

You just do it. There's not much beyond that.

Just fluant what you've got, don't be ashamed of it

dont be afraid

Just take a shower. You need one. Don't make an issue of it, just go take one. The less of a big deal you make, the more you will find that there is nothing, and never was anything, to worry about. Nobody will watch you, and if they do, let it be their problem.
I'm guessing if you make it no big deal, other guys will do the same. I remember the first week in junior high p.e., it was the same way in my class. Nobody has the balls to shower the first week. No pun intended.

All the boys are going through the same dilemma, their bodies are going through puberty just like yours and you may be embarrassed by the changes, don't be, they are normal. If you ask each boy in your class they have the same question.

I would say if you start then everyone else will follow because they will see that they are no different than you. So when PE class is over go in and take the shower and watch as each day more and more will join you.

turn on the water

Mike J. hit the nail on the head! Locker room showers are "open" to save time. All the guys will be too busy soaping up and rinsing, then hurrying to get dressed, to pay any attention to any one else's business.
If you think you sweat, or not, you need a shower after P. E. Just ask any of the girls! Oh yeah, don't forget to keep a stick of deodorant in your locker or tote bag, and use it!
High school class rooms are "close quarters". Try to keep them pleasant for everyone.

I'm women: I hate tell you. You should take a shower after you done with your PE classes. If you want keep your body clean and fresh. It's same thing with girls, since, they taking a shower everyday. Everybody suppose taking a shower everyday and keep them clean and smell fresh. If you don't want get spoil, if you have girlfriend come around you. They don't want smell bad since you're not taking a shower.

Here's a solution! Wear heavy deodorant. After PE Class
use the basin to wash under your arms. With a moist/soaped
wash cloth, go into the stalls and wash off really well in
the musty areas and be sure to put on a fresh clean
pair of underwear. Finish by deodorant spray, Use
AXE, its really good. Spray crotch and underarms, that
should get you through the day until you lcan get home and
take a real shower! Girls can't get away with this but
believe me guys can!

Ya I think this is normal for any guy i nthat position..but once you do it everyone will follow..trust me if your going to be running a mile or whatever you are going to be sweaty and want to take a shower and you wont care about anything..if you dont want to show anything in the actually changing room just put the towl around your waist and take your boxers off with it around you.

Hello Jeff
I understand your concern I presume your age is early teens. If you don't have any brothers, this experience is probably exactly the opposite of what you have been taught by your parents. I think the best way to handle it is to grit your teeth and just have your first "public" shower. Remember all the others will be basically like you and there are like to be others who feel as you do. Getting this first time behind you will make you feel much better. You will most likely find it was really no big deal and the concerns you had were most likely only your imagination.
Once you have overcome this one you will be well placed to confront other challenges you will face in the future.
It might be helpful, when you are faced with a problem to think about the solution & the benefits, not the problem. If you only think about the problem it becomes a bigger problem in your mind. If you think about the solution you find ways to be more confident in facing it. An obvious benefit here is you will feel much fresher & better able to concentrate on your other classes for the day. You will also feel good that you overcame this.
Good luck.

That's easy.
Get your clothes off, walk to the shower area, turn the water on and enjoy.
You will notice that many others will follow you and do the same thing.
After a couple of time, you will be used to it and think nothing about it. Ignore the wise guys that won't have the guts to do it. Soon they will, due to peer pressure and.... smell :-)

Ask your coach if you can hit the showers a few minutes early. While not all coaches will do this, it is worth discussing it with them. Most athletes are acutely aware of this particular problem, and may have struggled with it themselves.
Buy a decent sized towel and don't rely on the skimpy towels your gym provides. While not every school provides towels, for those that do
