Answers: my 3 yr.old complains about pain when his penis retracts and his forskin is tightly closed.

It can happen anytime up the age of 18. I was worried about this with my first son and I even had a doctor tell me he had to be circumcised when he was 2 years old because his foreskin did not retract! Luckily, I did my own research and found it is completely normal and circumcision would have been not only traumatizing but unnecessary. He is 7 years old now, still intact and fine. Below is a link with more info...

you could during bathtime when he plays around soaking when it is time to wash soap him up and pulll back on the skin gently soap it up and rinse it out he will learn that is what needs to be done when he gets older and eventually the skin will streach out and get easyer. Now the tip of his unit will be very sensitive it doesnt hurt it is just very sensitve cause it is covered by the foreskin. so if he said is hurts it may be just a wierd felling to him. I remember it was very sensitve when i was young Just remember to teach him to clean it lot of parents dont and then the posters here write about thier stinky units

good luck

If it hurts, do not pull it back for him. Doing so can cause scaring on the skin, which means it'll lose elasticity and not pull back later. At his age, it's normal for the foreskin not to pull back. A study in Denmark found the average age to be 10.4, to retract, so he's not in any danger.

Here's the study that found the average age of retraction:

And lastly, if you believe the foreskin is really tight (as in it might affect his urination) then you can get a cream prescribed from a doctor to help (it works in almost 95% of cases, especially on younger boys):

Circumcision is not needed:

I'd leave it alone. We left my son alone, and he's fine. Just need to bathe regularly, and wash on the outside with soap. Good luck.
