when you can't concentrate on that hot chick

Guilt & embarrassment, I suppose, although nobody should feel guilty or embarrassed about doing something which is so safe, natural and enjoyable.

There really are no mental problems. It could become addictive/habitual, I suppose, but there are much worse things you could be addicted to (like pretty much anything). It's harmless and natural -- try not to feel bad about it.

Suppressing the instinct to masturbate is what would actually be bad for your mental health.

Masturbation can be an addiction which can lead to premature ejaculation like my case. But with self-control and the following you can overcome that
(1) Acupuncture
(2) Yoga, pilate, meditation
(3) Exercise - gym, home
(4) Avoid Spicy, oily, fatty food
(5) Don't overeat
(6) Avoid porn on TV and Internet
(7) Get good friends who don't talk about sex
(8) Get a hobby, volunteer
(9) Read good books - Chicken soup for the soul for example.
Good luck

Masturbating is a pleasurable but unproductive mental activity.

The term masturbation conjures up many myths about its damaging and debasing nature. Its negative images may be traced as far back as the word's Latin origin, masturbare, which is a combination of two Latin words, manus (hand) and stuprare (defile), thus "to defile with the hand." The built-in notion of shame and uncleanliness implied by the defiling portion of the word has remained in the modern translation
