My boyfriend wants lyposuction?!

Question: My boyfriend says in the next year or so he wants to have lyposuction (sorry about bad spelling) done on his tummy. He really doesnt need it, it just needs to go to the gym once or twice a week to tighten everything up. He is a ballroom & latin dancer so is very self concious about his apperance, he seems to think the better he/we look the more successful we'll be at competitions (which is crazy).

Im just worried as the thought of them sucking out his tummy scares me! What if something goes wrong!

Should I encourage him to have the procedure or try to stop him?

There's a few shows on cable TV that show the proceedure being done - see if you can find one. Dr. 90210 comes to mind, but there are others. I considered it till I saw one of those. Now, I just hit the gym. It takes longer, but the long term health benefits outweigh the risks and rewards of surgery.

try to stop him, lyposuction doesnt really help, i mean yeah you lose a few pounds but, its not the same affect as working out in the gym...because you can remove fat cells in the gym if you work hard enough...with a lyposuction you cant remove those cells and everything you eat after that just adds on to those fat cells,,,so try to encourage him not to go, and plus the gym can tone up alot of things on your body, maybe you guys should join a gym together.

If he can afford and wants it done, he should do it. I had it done a few years ago. It is done as an outpatient. He will probably have to wear a girdle like devise for us to 6 weeks. There is a lot of info on the web. Make sure he selects a well qualified plastic surgeon.

No he needs a frontal lobotomy. Your dude is an idiot. Lipo is very dangerous. He needs the gym / target training on his flabby stomach.

The best way to lose abdominal fat is through exercise. This is what the doctors will recommend and not liposuction, as despite popular belief, doctors aren't out to make more money, but are there to genuinely help the patient. He doesn't even need to go to the gym, abdominal crunches and sit-ups will have him a 6 pack in no time. Here are some sites on abdominal crunches and sit-ups.
