Guys - Dry scalp problems...not dandruff!?!

Question: I have dry skin in the winter and it makes it look like I have dandruff because my scalp flakes after shampooing. I use Head & Shoulders, but since its technically not dander and its dry skin, it only works for awhile. Does anyone have any suggestions? Also ----- what about the skin on your elbows that get to looking rough like sandpaper? I use the loofa in the shower, but it hasn't gotten rid of it and I hate dirty looking elbows! Suggestions please!!!!! Thanks!!!!!

Sounds like psoriasis. Not life-threateneing, but could get worse. See a doctor for special shampoos and creams. You'll probably need some cortisone creams for your elbows and other solutions for the scalp.

i have the same problem.. if you can find some sort of moisturizing shampoo its worth a try but so far i haven't had any luck getting rid of the problem either

Lotion for the elbows and scalp!
Just use a tiny bit on your scalp if you haven't showered yet. Otherwise your hair will look really greasy and gross. My scalp gets really dry too... so when I know I'll be showering within the hour, I will rub lotion into my scalp... it seems to help.

Perhaps your "winter skin" is the result of eczema or psoriasis.

Try moisturizing lotion on your elbows -- unscented, if you can (fewer chemicals) -- after you get out of the shower. I'd forget about the loofah for a few days, until the skin is soft enough there; wouldn't want to scratch away scales.
