Is it healthy to take a protein shake before a workout?!
Question: Its not unhealthy, but its a waste of money. Protein shakes in general are a waste of money. The reason that the person above me's brother in law or whoever's muscles are getting bigger is simply because he is working out. Now, protein is important for after exercise. Two great sources are peanut butter and chocolate milk. However, in order for either to be effective (same with the protein shakes) you must take the protein within 15-30 minutes after your workout for protein resynthesis to occur. By drinking chocolate milk, the (whey) protein is absorbed quickly and it actually tastes good. Protein shakes contain more protein than you need and you end up peeing the rest out

My brother inl aw drink one before and after every workout, and his muscle are growing, so yes its ok.
