Brothers not both being the same?!

Question: I'm not circumsized, my friend Ricky is. But my brother is circumsized and Rickys brother isnt. We're wondering whats up with that? Why do parents leave some kids alone and cut others?

It's somewhat common for the older brother to be circumcised and then, for various reasons (from it going wrong to seeing how much pain there is to seeing it's not necessary) they decide it's not in the best interest for their kids anymore. It's too late for the first one, though, since it's a permanent surgery.

Anyways, you have nothing to worry about. You have plenty of advantages too.

By leaving a boy uncircumcised, if he's not satisfied with it he can always get cut and end up satisfied in the end. One survey found that about half of circumcised guys would have preferred to had made the decision themselves:

Circumcision has become less common. Circumcision rates were as high as 90% back in the 1960s and 1970s (that's partly why today's adults are so... brainwashed, I supposed you could say, about thinking that circumcision is better) but they have fallen to as low as 14% in some states. Here are the statistics:

The USA is the last developed nation doing it to a large number of newborns without religious or medical needs. (Europeans, Latin Americans, Japanese, and most Australians, Canadians, and Asians don't circumcise):

Christianity doesn't ask for circumcision, either. In fact, sections of the Bible are harsh against circumcision, and the Catholic Church even condemned the surgery:

In a medical study, it was found that females are more likely to hit orgasm with an uncircumcised man:

The lubricated foreskin (on the inside... like your eyelids) slides up and down during sex and masturbation to stimulate the head (which is why you don't hear of uncircumcised guys needing lube to masturbate).

Studies have found that circumcision reduces sensitivity (this article also mentions how it has lost popularity in the USA in recent times):

And despite being more sensitive, uncircumcised guys still last in the same six minute range (average) that circumcised guys do:

Circumcision makes masturbation more difficult:

Which makes sense, that's how circumcision was promoted in the USA:

Increases erectile dysfunction rates:

If too much skin is removed in circumcision, it can make the penis smaller since the penis needs some skin to expand during an erection:

http://www.altermd.com/Penis%20and%20Scr...

There's pain involved, often why doctors don't want you in the room when it's done:

(you can search online for a circumcision video, too)

Circumcision does not completely stop penile cancer. The American Cancer Society has already confirmed the myth that circumcision = no cancer.
http://www.cancer.org/docroot/CRI/conten...

If circumcision did stop penile cancer, then penile cancer would not be more common in the USA (most circumcised adults) than in some European nations, where circumcision is not practiced other than for medical/religious reasons.

And a new study found that circumcision does not reduce your chances to get HIV/AIDS. Unlike other studies, this one was done in a developed nation; the USA.

Of course, there are other risks associated, but those are typically the ones due to surgery. You can research it more here:

PS. As far as cleaning goes, it's really simple. For the first years in life the foreskin doesn't pull back. That prevents stuff like poo/fecal matter from touching the head. Later on all it takes it 5 to 10 seconds to pull the foreskin back and rub the head; it even feels good.

That is the parents personal info. Some religions 2.

Parents learn their lesson. If one is born a certain way then let it be.

difference in age?? it wasnt usually being done before and it got more common.. or vice versa

ask Ricky's parents...we don't know the answer to that!

a possible change in religious views or something like that.

That actually makes no sence. Usually its a cultural thing. I know this would be beyond weird, but if your that curious maybe u should ask ur parents.

are you not in contact with your mother...go to the source...always!!!

Beats me. My brothers and I all were because we are Jewish. In the states it is common for most boys anyway. We just had a big celebration at our Bris though. Most families just have it done at the hospital.
I don't know why in the same family it would be done to some and not others though, that does seem odd.

maybe they just felt differently about it or saw it in a different light at the time of each pregnancy. I know that even though my children are only 2 years apart I was a very different person when I had my son then when I had my daughter. People grow intellectually and emotionally and change how they feel about things as they get older. If it bothers you then you should talk to your parents about it to find out what their personal reasons are.

Who was born first in each set?
Often parents that witness a circumcision will not have it done on their next child, because they realize how painful and stressful the procedure is.
Or, it could go the other way. If the first child was not circumcised and they had any problems with that or difficulty, they may decide to get the next son circumcised.
Personally, I wouldn't have any child of mine circumcised.

maybe they were told by the doctor, if they cut yours, you wouldn't have any left to play with.

Not sure how old you are, but I am guessing Ricky and your brother are the older brothers.

It used to be that, unless a religious requirement (like with the Jewish community), infant boys were circumcised if the father was. Most Americans were circumcised. The medical community felt that circumcised boys did not have infections from lack of cleanliness, etc, and thus it was recommended.

About 15-20 years ago, the feeling of the medical necessity to circumcise began to change. Now the pediatric societies are saying to NOT circumcise unless there is a religious requirement. Your families were probably in that time frame so your brother had it because it simply was recommended.
