I shaved around my pubic area and got red bumps. What is that?!

Question: Should I be concerned? Here is the story...

I have done this before and gotten a mild rash at the base of my penis and in the pubic area. I recently shaved using the shaver my wife uses. It seemed to be fairly new. I used Dove soap (I usually use this brand) for the lather and when about my business. I didn't notice any bleeding during shaving. I washed up and dried as normal. After getting out of the shower I had intercourse with my wife. After intercourse, I wiped myself with a damp cloth as usual. Later that day, I felt itchy in that area. When I woke to shower the next morning, I noticed I had patchy redness and a few small, white-headed bumps around and at the base of my penis. I popped one, but then became nervous. I washed the area with an antibiotic soap and treated it with Neosporin after showering. After a day or so, the redness and bumps went away. What was that? I don't think it was any kind of STD, but should I look into it? My wife and I are exclusive to each other...

Be at peace you almost certainly do not have an STD. Anytime in my life I have ever tried to shave my private area I get the exact same reaction. I've tried different blades, electric, manual, different lubricant, different preps, cremes, gels, after shaving lotions....

When you shave the hair has to grow back in and when it does it can bend back in on itself and become ingrown--which looks pretty bad indeed. It usually takes a day or so for the worst of your 'damage' to become apparent.

Don't pick-don't pick-don't pick! Let it heal, put on some antibacterial cream if anything looks open sore as opposed to closed. Keep the area clean and dry.

It may take over 7-10 days for your skin to recover. I suggest a hiatus with the love making until then--it just won't feel all that grand rubbing yourself into anything until that heals.

sounds like ingrown hairs, you really have nothing to worry about give it a few days...and if you plan on shaving again, for hygenic purposes use your own razor..i know shes the wifey and all but you know what im getting at..but i guarantee you its just ingrown hairs..

It's called razor burn...it will go away in a couple of days...use a trimmer instead of shaving...

You might be shaving in a sensative part, or you may be getting an infection. Probably nothing to worry about.

You have razor burn. Use a bikini shave gel, works great, much better than soap. Also use a brand new razor, like Mach 3 or something so you don't have to go over the area repeatedly. Also, once you're out of the shower and dry, try some hydrocortisone cream or Bikini Zone to help reduce redness and bumps, also shaving with the grain of the hair growth and not against it helps. Good luck next time !! :)

Razor burn.

I would suggest making sure you use a brand new razor every time you shave down there, if there is bacteria on the razor you can transfer it to your already sensitive skin and cause more problems.

Try shick quatro, it's got 4 blades so you don't have to go over the same spot as much, and I would recommend waiting until the end of your shower to shave because the hair will be softer and easier to shave then.

Probably razor burn, you may find it was caused because you shaved 'against the grain' ie, shaved towards your body, try shaving the other way, away from you and use a brand new razor. Try a good brand of after shave balm afterwards as this helps by calming the skin.

No offence but we all know what state most women leave their razors in when they've done their legs and it is not going to be the sharpest tool in the box !

Get a boyzilian instead of shaving. No stubble, and it stays smooth a lot longer.
It does hurt, but not all that much, and only briefly. There are a lot of guys who really ham it up to make you think they are braver than they really are.

It's just ingrown hairs. Not a STD. So, don't worry That's my opinion.

Razor Burn

Use Nair, it burns at first but then it goes away.

put some fucidine it will go away

Razor burn. It's just irritation from shaving. It's probably not an STD.

I don't shave down there, i mean i trim but i have before and it has caused the red bumps and disgusting stuff.

But hey if you are still worried see a doctor, can't hurt eh?

razor burn
it'll go away soon = ]

It was caused from shaving, which in turn causes a irritation, and causes the hair follicles to do this. If you shave again when your done pick up some Bump Patrol you can buy at Wal Mart. Its cheap. make sure you lather well, Stretch the skin with the free hand forefinger and thumb, and use shot strokes and a clean razor each time you shave you might want to use a good shaving cream also rub it in good first. You will find it will help do away with the irritation you are experiencing. good Luck!
