When will my 3 year old's penis begin to show? CIrcumcised at 9 days old?!

Question: He was circumcised when he was 9 days old. His foreskin still covers it and I am wondering when this will change. Every time I try to clean him, he has a fit. What should I do?

If the foreskin is still covering it then sounds like it could be a "loose" circumcision in which case they didn't remove much. As long as it's clean and he's having no problems, don't worry about it. It will all change when it grows anyway, remember he'll need that skin to grow into, so don't go removing more or anything.

But I've also heard of a circumcision complication where the penis sort of withdraws in after the trauma (one of the many reasons why circumcision isn't a good idea). I'm not sure if this sorts itself out or if you need to take him to see a doctor. In general though I would say at this age unless he's in pain or having trouble urinating, leave it alone. It's a bad age for operations or anything down there because he's old enough to remember but too young to understand.

I wouldn't want any one touching me after being skinned either ouuuuuch the pain, I'm glad I was never circumcised, ouuuuch the misery.

just wait till he is older, and i mean way older, it will not really start growing for some years so u will have to wait and by that time i dont think he is going to want to change anything.

You may need to ask the pediatrician, b/c you should be able to see the glans (or head) without pulling skin back. The procedure may have not been done correctly. This happens more than you know.

First of all why would you circumsize him, because most people don't do that anymor now and day. Also he is only 3 years old it wont grow till he is at least 4-6 years.
Hope this helps! :)

It should be gettin closer to the surface, I agree that the circ was not done right and it is rather common it happened to several of my friends children and their probs have not been solved yet, sorry. YOu should ask the doc, hopefully he just needs more time.

Sounds like adhesions formed during healing, when the raw edges of foreskin often bond to the raw glans that the foreskin was ripped away from so the could cut it off. The penis forms as one organ and at birth the foreskin is fused to the glans like a fingernail to the finger. The circumciser rips it away with forceps before cutting or clamping the foreskin. The baby has a raw wound all over the end of his penis which stings like hell every time he urinates. Circumcision is not a good thing to do to any child.
Or It could be buried penis a condition sometimes caused by agressive circumcision, or agrivated by circumcision.
Either way you should take him to a doctor and get it checked.

My nephew had to be re-cut because the skin re-attached from not being cleaning consistantly - meaning the skin pulled back and cleaned properly. See a doctor.

Look at what the nurse has to say (in comments below). Also refer to the internet site I resourced for you. I agree the procecure may have been done incorrectly.
