What is the foreskin? The foreskin is the fold of skin that covers the glans. The glans is the rounded tip of your penis. The foreskin protects the glans from getting irritated by urine and from rubbing against clothes. When your foreskin sticks to the glans and cannot be pulled back. By about three years of age, the foreskin can be pulled back already. Some may need a longer time for their foreskin to separate from the glans.

What problems can occur with the foreskin?

Infection: Your foreskin may look swollen, red, and is painful to the touch. This may be caused by forcefully pulling back the foreskin. Infection may also occur when you do not clean the foreskin of smegma. Smegma is a whitish substance made of dead skin cells. Smegma is harmless, and found between the glans and the foreskin. Sometimes, too much smegma may be trapped under the foreskin for too long. If the foreskin is not washed, infection may occur. You may need antibiotic medicine for your infection.

Phimosis: Phimosis is a condition where the foreskin is tight and cannot be pulled back over the tip of the penis. A very bad infection may scar the tip of the foreskin. These scars block the opening of the foreskin. As a result, you may have trouble urinating, or may have more infections. You may have to undergo circumcision when this happens. Ask your dad or mom for more information about circumcision.

Trauma: The foreskin may be pulled back too hard as you bathe or masturbate. This can cause pain, cracking, and bleeding. In time, a scar may form at the tip of the foreskin. These scars cause the foreskin to stick to the glans.

What problems can occur if the foreskin is removed? A circumcision is a procedure that removes the foreskin. It is a safe and common procedure, but has certain risks. A circumcision may cause bleeding, infection, or injury to your penis. Some may or may not want their penis to be circumcised because of cultural or religious reasons.

How do you care for your foreskin?

Use only gentle soaps to clean the foreskin and glans. Do not use harsh soaps or laundry detergents.

Wash the outside of your penis with soap and water everyday.

Do not forcefully pull back the foreskin. You may feel pain when the foreskin is still sticking to the glans. When the time is right, it can be easily pulled back to show the glans.

When the foreskin can be pushed back, gently pull back your foreskin to show the glans. Wash this area with soap and water.

Make sure to wash away all the smegma under the foreskin.

After rinsing away all the soap, gently push back your foreskin to cover the glans.

typically yes but if you wash well it should be fne its all about having correct hygine

high-ER risk, but not high.

just keep it clean, was regularly and behind the skin

yes it is true that man has foreskin has a high level of getting an infection so the best remedy to it is that u should always wash ur private part with dettol soap or any other good soap after going to loo or after sex as it will prevent u from any sort of infection.

No, generally speaking
tight foreskin can result in infection and may require circumcision

NO! Less than female genitals for sure.
Many People in the US believe that intact males are subject to many infections but it's not true. The evidence is just not there (or is based on flawed studies) for this assertion.
Most intact males might need a tube of cream from a pharmacy once or twice in their lives but that's no big deal.
Just pull back the foreskin and rinse with plain water in the shower each day. Some men can use soap but this can upset the natural balance and actually cause a thrush infection. Thrush is easily treated with a tube of cream from a pharmacy.

foreskins are fertile grounds for bacteria....but this can be lessened thru proper hygiene (meaning retracting it while cleaning) and or circumcision

Having a normal and natural foreskin does not increase the risk of infection if you practise regular good hygiene, wash under your foreskin everyday when you are in the shower with some mild soap or shower gel and you shouldn't have any problems or certainly no more problems that a guy who has been circumcised.

Alvaro.... No use your head man. If you wash properly and use condoms, just like a man who has been circumcised has to wash, and do the same. Make sure you pull the foreskin completely back, wash with a good antibacterial soap, making sure you get all the folds of skin beneath the foreskin, rinse well and repeat two or three times.Women prefer foreskins because it causes less irritation, and they achieve orgasms more often. Good Luck man.

Only if you don't wash.

Otherwise, if you spend 5 or 10 seconds to pull the foreskin back and rub the head when you shower (that'll keep it clean) you're fine. I've never had an infection down there. On young boys (and babies) the foreskin is attached to the head (so it doesn't pull back necessarily) to keep anything dirty like feces from going in. It detaches (so it slides back) by puberty.

You also have advantages, though. So there's nothing to worry about if you haven't had infections.

Erm no there's no higher risk just because you have all your body parts. Infections can be caused by loads of different thigns but in general avoiding harsh cleaners, dirty stuff, and washing well with water will prevent most.
