Rectum bleeding/soreness?!

Question: My boyfriend sees a tiny amount of blood on the toilet paper and feels sore in the area. He has no other symptoms. He refuses to go to the doctor saying this has happened before (tho not in last 6 months) and it clears up in a couple of days. Is this anything to worry about?

Hemorrhoids. Add some fiber to his diet, and perhaps a stool softener. Also, use a softer toilet tissue.

However, I would also convince him to visit a trusted physician and recieve a prostate exam, especially if the above suggestions don't seem to help. Any amount of rectal bleeding could be a concern, and pain in the rectal area or during defecation can indicate a soft prostate, which is a sign of infection, prosatitis, or cancer.

For his sake, convince him to see a doctor if the first suggestions don't work. A yearly prostate exam is vital to a man's health.

sounds like hemorrhoids; tiny blood vessels on the anus that have ruptured from either straining, or wiping too hard. They're normal, so to speak. He needs a little more fiber in his diet.

The probable cause for this is hemorrhoids. I've gotten the same thing several times and the doctor always gives me stool softeners and tells me not to force out stool.

The best thing is to add more fiber to his diet and maybe encourage him to take some stool softeners that you can pick up at any pharmacy.

Hemorrhoids... tell him to eat more fiber and use Preparation H or something else to reduce the pain and swelling.

Ask him if the blood is dark red or bright red. If it is dark then he should see a doctor. If it is bright red then it is hemoroids

sounds like piles or hemorrhoids to me. Sitting on hard cold surfaces lacking in fiber and strain to hard to have a bowel movement. There is a major blood vessel back there in the back door so one must be careful. Some if the become bad enough will opt to have surgery, talk about some pain. He needs to relax and take it easy. You need remain clam and help him when he ask if it is with in your ability and you wish to do so.

he may mave colon polyps...known to cause colon cancer !
Go to the doctor ! !

You boyfriend is bleeding from his rectum?!! That is not good and he needs to go get checked out right away regardless as to whether he has had it happen before or not. He could be putting himself at danger or high risk by not getting checked out ASAP. You need to take him and see what's wrong with him. That doesn't sound good. I get penetrated but never bled before so I don't know!!

It sounds serious though and nothing to take too lightly!!

Yeah, that happened to me before. The doctor told me that I had a bacterial infection in my intestines due to the fact people in my house weren't washing their filthy hands and I was getting the germs in my system. This may not be his case, but if it is he should still get checked, because they had to give me some kind of medicine for it.
