HATE MY VOICE!!! advice plz!!!?!

Question: I hate my voice, plain and simple. It's higher, softer, and quieter than other guys (deep voice) and I sometimes get made fun of for it. People sometimes mistake my voice for a girls sometimes when I'm on the phone (I hate talking on the phone, prefer e-mail/instant messaging) and i heard it myself and i hate it. Why hasn't my voice changed yet? is there a way I can get it to change (medication, etc.)??? Having my voice is the reason I avoid any social situation (speaking basically). Help plz!!!

Gday Jus,its the process of the transformation of your voice going to masculinity.I'm afraid my sons have+will go thru the same thing as you and my eldest son was older when he is voice changed.I could only suggest maybe try some singing exercises, ask a music teacher at school as im sure you shouldn't mess with natures vocal cords, and explain this to your teachers that you are very self conscious of this transformation happening, and maybe they will not bother you so much when in class.Or you could ask your doctor he may help. cheers always :)

how old are you?
my brother is 14, he will be 15 in May, and his voice is still mistaken for mine or my moms. your voice will change eventually, you just have to give it time... it is all part of growing up!

don't worry about what other people think about you! there opinions don't really matter!

i hope that i helped at least a little bit!

Ah, man!

We are so alike! I mean, completely with this.

I have the same problem. I don't talk on the phone and I avoid speaking in class and I get made fun of, well by my friends and they are just joking around.

I can't really help. I've tried asking these questions and I get the same response over and over "It's puberty. It will happen. Blah blah blah"

And I'm 15, grade 9. So yeah.

Good luck man! I feel your pain. ha

I have the same problem. I am 16 and I do not participate in class much do to my voice. I get embarrased a lot by it. At work one time... I had to get the phone for my boss and the person thought i was her :( I did not say anything but it hurts!!!!

It's probably normal. Your voice may always be that way, in fact. It's in the genes. I wouldn't worry about it.
