When boys have wet dreams it shows that the body is preparing to make sperm. If you have not had a wet dream then you will not be producing sperm.

everyone starts puberty at different stages. some may say that 12 is in fact very young because some people don't start puberty until they ar 16 or 17

Honestly it varies from individual to individual. I first produced sperm when I was 11 and it really surprised me. I did not enjoy it and I thought I must be ill. But you young guys have so much more information today.
