Before telling a doctor about a lump on my testicle should I tell my parents?!

Question: I do have a doctors appointment today, but my Dad will be with me. I dont exactly know how to tell either of them (my doctor AND my dad) that I got a lump down there? I don't know whether I should tell my dad before I go to the doctors, incase he gets offended by me not telling him ????
I need help. My appointment is after 3.00 today, and need answers- fast. Anybody please help, what do you think ?

well, its up to you. you dont have to tell your parents anything if you dont want, thats the whole point of dr/patient confidentiality. you dont even have to have your dad in the room if you dont want (if you're old enough, most places its over 16 i think).

but, if you're scared and want support then just tell your parents (if you dont want to tell your mom i'd understand, but dad should know). and just be upfront with your dr. just tell him you found a lump and you want to make sure it isnt anything serious. dont get too worried. there are sooooo many types of lumps. ingrown hair, cyst, fatty tumors (all safe). if your dr is worried he'll byopse it.

just a random question, is the appointment for this? or for something else? because usually with my dr i have to tell them why i'm coming in, so if its for this, then wouldnt they already know?

Of course you'll need to tell your dad. Sit down with him and tell him simply in an easy manner if it's quite trouble for you.

If you're still not able to tell him, try to figure out WHY you can't and try to get to the bottom of things.

He is your Dad, yes tell him. He will appreciate the fact that you trust him enough to confide in him. I hope it is nothing serious and will hold thumbs for you. Take care :)

It might not be a big deal, but yeah. you should definitely tell your dad first. It will kind of soften the blow of telling the doc. b/c your dad will already know and be in your corner. After all... it's not like it's your fault, so theres no need to be embarrassed. Both of them will just want to figure out what's wrong and help you out.

Tell your doctor first. You don't want to scare you dad. If it is something then tell him. Let him know you didn't want to stress him out if it was nothing.Good luck:)

i think you should try to tell him... say this is kind of odd for me but im very concerned and think you should have an idea about whats going on....tell him that way, or you could wait and see what the dr says and if it isnt much to worry about then you could tell him after the fact. so that he isnt too worried. either way good luck i hope its nothing too serious.

I am surprised he has not asked anyway , or have you told him of something else ??
You must tell your day before you set off , or on the way . Otherwise he will look a bit silly
Good Luck

I have 2 sons and if they had this situation I would like to know about it, so that I could be supportive.
You may not have anything to worry about here. Most lumps are just that, a lump.

I am sure you should tell your dad. If he is going with you anyway he needs to know.

If you don't want to go into full details just tell him and your Dr you have a lump down there. They will know what you mean. Good Luck. EllaXX

sure tell and show your dad, he's a guy and would want to know
he has seen you naked and care for you so whats the big deal

Yes. Just tell them what's your problem and show them in private place to protect your privacy. OK?

tell dad now this very second, don't be embarrassed, it could be nothing but then again it could be something very serious

Hey, Jay D:

Hope your day is "going".Tell your dad before getting to the doctor's office, sweetie.

Just say, "Dad I didn't say anything to you before, cause I am scared and confused. Everything is happening at once. I found a lump in one of my testicles. I NEED to see a UROLOGIST as soon as possible. I also need you to know that I AM SCARED and I need your support. ".

He will understand and support you!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

yes tell her
