As you go through puberty, your hair will continue to grow and itch. Shaving will only make this worse. As a medical professional I can only advise against it if you want to stop the itch. It's just a phase and you'll get past it. However, if it gets too curly and it starts to hurt, by all means shave it. It happened to me during puberty.

Good luck!

I'm a guy, and my pubic hair doesn't itch.

Too much hair (especially if its becoming problematic) can be unhealthy. Too little on the other hand poses no health risks. A word of caution though, be very careful when shaving and preferably use a clean new razor only and do it during or immediately after a hot shower.

Do you mean in Australia?

Mine doesn't itch either..... Could you have a rash? Anyway, don't shave, or you'll REALLY itch, trust me! Just trim it down with scissors some. Try wearing boxers, too - that way you'll get a little more fo breeze down there :)

If you wear underwear your hair shouldnt get caught in the zip.If you do shave it it will be more itchy when it grows back.

Under normal circumstances pubic hair should not itch. Unless you have pubic lice or some sort of irritation, then there should be no itch present.

Trimming hair so it doesn't get caught in your zipper generally means you're going commando - so you might consider either trimming the hair using a beard trimmer ( yep -works great) or wearing underwear of some sort.

Now, how can you tell if you have lice? Look for tiny white dots on the hair shafts. There may even be tiny little bugs if you look closely. If this is the case there are two solutions: one is to purchase an over the counter lice product or shave off all the hair.

Of course, shaving often causes itching when the hair grows back.

hey where all doctors, on here ..do you have crabs,,, your see them jumping around down there , and if you do shave all of it off down there because that's the only place they can go,,, Dr sexy here,,,,lol

OK. now get this... and doctors are not the authority on the shaving of pubic hairs. They actually step in IF you cut yourself shaving with a spoon or have an infection in that area in which their expertise may be sought thus there maybe some shaving to expose the area for minor surgical reasons, medical reasons to rid of body lice or aesthetic reasons to personally enhance the look of your package, taster and smell.
but the reason behind the ITCH is because as your hair grows after a clean shave it tends to scratch the surface under the skin coming out but some hair follicles tend to get trapped under the skin causing small red pimple like rash, irritating the hell out of you and it hurts just to scratch it. Trust me, yo don't want that. you are better off trimming it down to a 1"(inch) level with clippers and a 1" guard because that itch CAN get infected and that's where the DOCs come in. So , no shave, trim. I like my fruits but no that much fiber caught between my teeth.

Shave away my friend.... the itching is probably more to do with dry skin or some related condition.. and not just to do with the hair alone... in fact a shave could make things worse as you could get razor burn or ingrown hair.... and believe you me you do not want to get either of these. what you could do is trim it down till the end so that sweat etc do not collect and you can use talc etc to keep it dry and itch free....it will only get caught in the zipper if you are free balling or going commando...;-)
finally there is nothing about health or unhealthy about shaving..... it is a matter of choice and having time to do it... just make sure you do not get nicks and cuts when you shave....
