As part of his six monthly bloods check up my husbands has been told?!

Question: his liver reading was higher than it ought to be and his GP has told him to cut back on his beer intake. Should we be unduly worried?

Dont lose sleep over it but do follow his advice and cit down on the alcohol. Having liver readings high is a sign that there is liver damage going on. This is fine in the short term as the liver can heal itself. But if the amount of alcohol is not reduced then longer term it can lead to much more serious liver disease.

I dont know how much your hubby drinks but if he can cut down a few pints a week that'd help.

Oh, if he had been on a heavy night out the day before the blood was taken this would sway the results. If you're really worried you can ask to have a repeat test done making sure he hasnt been drinking at all 3 days prior to the test. If it's still high this is quite worrying and he should cut down more dramatically.

Just for reference sake 14 units in a week is the max. That's about a pint a day.

Hope this helps.

If his checks are to do with him having Diabetes then yes you should be worried if not he still has to cut back on the booze!
