My Husband Cant Poop?!

Question: It has been about 4 or 5 days since his last bowel movement, he is a pretty regular guy going at least once every day.

We have tried stool softeners, mineral oil and enemas. We even tried Red Lobster.....which usually causes him to have a bowel movement within 20 minutes of completing his meal, but not this time.

I'm not sure if he is constipated or impacted. I tried to look both of them up and they sound so similar, the only difference being he hasnt had the soft stool that usually accompanies impactation thus far.

He is also running a little bit of a fever, nothing over 101.7 so far thank goodness.

I'm not sure if we should try to treat it with a stronger laxitive or just go straight to the ER at this point.

Anyone had a similar situation happen?

Any suggestions?

Thanks.

If you haven't seen a doctor by now, please do... there might be something serious in there. He is impacted & I think he needs to have an xray/ultrasound of his stomach to find out what is causing this blockage.

please take your husband to a good Doctor

i was in jail for a couple days and i didn't go for maybe 2 to 3 days. i told myself i could wait

that is not verry good, his temp can keep rising so might want to tak him to the docotor to see whats going on he could be have colon problems.

at this point, it's time to see a doctor.

See a medical professional, may just prescribe an enema, meanwhile it is important to keep mobile, (if possible), Physical activity encourages bowel motility, ensure adequate hydration, a diet rich in raw fruit & vegetables is also beneficial.

Milk of Mag works good or at least that is what we use on the old people at my nursing home
