Are there any antidepressants for men that don't have sexual effects?!

Question: And if there isn't...will a doctor prescribe something like viagara to counteract this problem for a male? What about cymbalta, have any of you males tried this?

bupropion (Wellbutrin) is the antidepressant with little if any sexual side effects. You'll want to discuss this with your doctor to see if it is right for you. Sexual side effects are very common with the SSRI category (Prozac, Zoloft, Paxil, Celexa and Lexipro). Viagra is not always the solution because it's not always an erection problem - it's often an inability to ejaculate that is the problem for men.

Sometimes adding Wellbutrin to the medication regime can correct the problem if you need to stay on the one that is causing the problem. Cymbalta may be an alternative - but it also increases serotonin activity so this may not be the solution.

Actually all the antidepressants cause a bit of losing the sex drive, but do not worry about it, it is something that goes aways very rapidly, and is not permanent, besides, with time will have a better response increasingly, it starts the loose of interest with the saturation state, but as the body start getting used to the medicine then it starts responding better to the sex stimulation. The use with Viagra or other drugs is not recommended as the use of over the counter medicines, has to be prescribed by your physician or you could cause a rebound effect or worse.

Most SSRI(selective serontin reuptake inhibitor) will cause decrease sexual effects. You may want to check into WELLBUTRIN which falls under the(aminoketone)catagory. Wellbutrin is available in multiple strengths & generic(bupropion)and is also used as an antidepressent.. Viagra is probably an option too.

There are a ton of meds out there for depression. Unfortunately sexual side effects are common. You will probably have to go by trial and error. They all effect everyone differently. Someone may say cymbalta was ok for them but you may have a problem or you might reach a certain dose on a med and realize an issue. Sexual side effects are not the only side effects though... More importantly (I know, as if anything is more important than sex! LOL;-) many antidepressants carry suicide warnings...So,,,if at any point you start having strange or off kilter thoughts call your doc right away! Good Luck.I hope you find what works for you without too many side effects.
