Most people say the worse thing about a condom is it don't feel as good. Really I think the problem is that you have to stop what you are doing and put it on.

the first time is always make you nervous. This is natural.
you are just super nervous which is making you loose your erection. once you get rid of that mental block it will improve. you poor thing, just keep trying and in the mean time go down on your understanding wonderful girlfriend.

For your and her safety you really should wear the condom, but they aren't always the most enjoyable things to use. Try putting a rubber glove on your hand and then pet your dog and see what I mean.
