The age at which one starts masturbating makes a lot of difference. The average age of first masturbation for the males who have never had a wet dream is 11.94. For males who have had one, the average age of first masturbation is 12.45.
Among males who have had a wet dream, 54.9 percent stopped having them when they learned to masturbate. For another 20.8 percent, they continued for a while, but only 24.3 percent of males still have them.
For males who have them, they come about once every 10 days. There is no consistency to this; a male might have them two days in a row and then not again for a month.
Some authorities believe there is some cardinal frequency of masturbation that inhibits wet dreams forever. That is to say, even if you have them twice a month before you start masturbating, if you stop masturbating, you will not be likely to start having wet dreams again.
