Ah gender differences... Reading women comes from communication and acknowledging and appreciating that Men and women communicate differently, and in many different forms.
\Women use body language (i.e posture, facial expression, gestures) as a method of conveying feelings far more often then men, thus it is difficult for men to pick up and process these cue's.
There is also the "think to talk" and "talk to think" theory. Some people (mainly women) will talk to conclude with an answer eg "i am thinking about a new car, should i get a black one or pink one. how big, etc".... and then not even buy a freaking car. Other people (mainly men) will process all the information and come to the conclusion before speaking eg "I AM buying a black 7 seater 4wd" and do this.
Women are hard to read I know, however understanding the individual female will give you insight into what they mean.

If you're asked one of the "death" questions, answer a different question. For example:
Q: "Do these pants make me look fat?"
A: " They look beautiful on you."
