Forget about AA - it is a cult that will not help your addiction for the long-term.

I know of several alcoholic folks such as yourself and this is what they to do stay in good health:

Include an herb called Milk Thistle in your diet.

Try to keep away from alcohol for at least a few days at a time so the body can cleanse itself. Even try a sabbatical every once and a while.

Eat nutritionally sound and excercise to keep a healthy weight. When drinking, eat fatty foods and pasta and try to drink water. This will, at most times, lessen the effects of your hangover and will help your liver to metabolize the alcohol better. Drinking V-8 everyday is excellent for energy as well.

Life is too short and everyone should live it the way they want to. Either you or your body will decide when or if you want to quit drinking. Cheers!

exercise and drink plenty of water. also its important to eat healthy foods, a lot of times alcoholics don't eat properly which is doubly bad, but if you do all this you can drink and still stay healthy for now.

continuing to drink in excess will eventually cause some degree of cirrohsis (liver damage). The liver has to cleanthe blood and the harder it works the more damage it endures. As it becomes damaged fat infiltrates the damaged areas which in esssence clogs the filter...making it difficult or impossible to clean the blood. The liver may the grow larger (hepatomegaly) which may even be palpable under the lower edge of your rib cage. As the liver gets behind the kidney will be placed under greater demand to detoxify your body. The could lead to requiring dialysis 3 or more times a week so that a machine can "clean" your blood.

You only option is to reduce or even eliminate alcohol to allow the body to regenerate your liver andkidneys. If continued demand is placed on your liver...it may become cancerous. Since all of your blood filters through the liver...cancer cells can easilly be spread to your entire body.

A natural herb called silymarin or "Milk Thistle" has een shown to help detoxify the liver and aid in regeneration. This can be used successfully, but you'd still have to reduce/eliminate consumption for it to have a chance to help.

stop drinking alcohol is a good start

If you don't reduce your intake of alcohol there is little that can be done. Drink in moderation. If you drink in moderation there seems to be a health benefit to drinking. If you drink too much its a bad thing. With practice you should be able to stop just before you get a good buzz on. That's just about the right amount. If you really can't drink in moderation you need to get help quiting cold turkey.

4 things you can do:

1. Reduce and/or quit consuming alcohol now and in the future. Alcohol is highly toxic and highly addictive.

2. Eat a healthy diet with a high degree of fruits and veges. Keep meats lean. Eat only organic products.

3. Start an exercise program. Anything. Just do it every day at least a half hour to hour every day.

4. Start using cannabis. Cannabis is non-toxic, non-addictive, and, by stimulating your body's endocannabinoidal system, it helps your body heal the damage that alcohol consumption has caused. (This assumes, of course, that you live in a country that actually practices freedom rather than just preaching it to others.).

Sorry, you cannot have it both ways. Alcohol aside from its psychoactive effects that kill neurons and deteriorate brain functions produces a numbers of toxins that cause damage in other vital organs, especially the cardiovascular system and the digestive system. I suggest that if you really want to make significant improvements in your health, then you need to stop drinking. I am worried when you say you "can't leave or reduce it". That sounds like addiction. Perhaps an Alcoholics Anonymous meeting (check the local phone book or their website) can clarify your thinking about the role alcohol has in your life. Good luck!
