Masturbating: a good solution?!

Question: I am dedicated christian 14 year old and this fall i accidently got into some porn on the internet. I knew that this was a sin, so i prayed to god to help me get off of this habit. I discovered masturbation and it distracted me from porn. I kind of feel like god may have led me to this. I dont watch porn anymore, but is masturbation a good solution or am i still in the wrong? I really feel like god may have led me to masturbating to get me away from the worse sin. Am i right?

As much as you'd like to think that God led you to this solution, it's doubtful. I know this is a tough situation, but you're young and have all sorts of hormones happening in your body. Just refrain from both pornography and masturbation as best as you can. Here's some tips on stopping yourself from masturbating and they can help you refrain from pornography as well.

Keep busy - when you're busy doing homework, reading, any sort of constructive activity, it will help you keep your mind off of it. Don't put yourself in situations or around people who make you revert back to masterbating.

Exercise - start an exercise routine, it helps you release all that pressure and again, it keeps you busy. When I found it really hard to keep myself from doing it, I go for a run; this does miracles, because you stop yourself from doing it and you stay/get into shape.

If you do it when you're in bed - wear pajama pants or basketball shorts that make it hard for you to get your hand down there, and if you still try for it, as much as you don't want to, get out of bed and either walk around or do something.

If it's when you shower - don't linger in the shower (I'd take hour long showers which led to me masterbating), do what you need to do in the shower and that's it, don't spend excessive time cleaning or admiring your member.

If it happens while on the computer - don't read/look at stuff that you know leads you to masterbating. If you find that you get an erection while reading/looking at something on the computer, close the window and get away from the computer for a while (many times I'd read something innocent that made me get a hard on and then I'd revert back to masterbating).

Masterbating is just like any other habit - once you start it's hard to break the cycle. With masterbating, the body will get into the habit of needing to release itself because you've gotten into the habit of doing it. As time goes on (if you're trying to stop) you're body will slow down it's production and you won't have the urgency to do it. You've got to remember that if you mess up along the way it's alright, but don't rationalize your mess ups to the point of where you make excuses just to do it. If you work on not doing it, you can break the cycle, just don't give up! Hope this helps!!!

You're obviously way to into the Bible. Let me put this to you in a gentle way that you can understand. Let me guess, you decided that learning about God and being brain washed was much easier then learning Biology? Report It

  • Not really. God also gave us free will. He gave you the tools to please yourself as well. Just enjoy and be thankful you've got it.

Possibly. But in some religions, masturbating is a sin. But do whatever you feel is right.

Either way, whatever you do, it really isn't a bad sin. Well it's not extreme. God is forgiving if you admit your mistakes.

Oh No!! Stop thinking this way, God created us as we are, stop beating yourself for something so natural, its your body please it.
    IM PRO PORN
    IM PRO MASTURBATION
    AND I LOVE GOD!

actually there are a lot more doctrines out there than actual facts. the bible doesnt adress masturbation at all, though there are passages often twisted to cover it. in my opinion there is no sin in it, provided you dont lust after someone thru it. as long as you arent fixated on one person with it, you are fine. even the porn isnt directly adressed. they usually quote the teaching about lust to cover porn, but lusting is to burn or pine for something. passing endless pictures doesnt fit that. in the end, pray about it, ask for guidance, and do what you are compelled to do for you and your life.

No, you're wrong. God's not gonna turn you away from sin to lead you into more sin. Even if the second sin is less worse. You know that, you have to. Makes sense, doesn't it? Masterbating is wrong, it's in the Bible. I suggest, since you say you're a Christian, you should start reading your Bible every night. It will help you to make better choices and want to live right. You won't feel like you're making yourself. But give it time, it took me about a year of daily devotions to start thinking this way.

Nowhere in the bible says Masturbating is a Sin and maybe God lead you to it nobody on here can awnser that but how are you susspose to know hes real?or he wrote the bible?

    sex can wait, masturbate!!
you need to for a release!

Check out www.jackinworld.com as there is lots of info on there about masturbation and Christianity, most of which concludes that there is nothing in the Bible that actually says masturbation is a sin.

Nothing is a 'sin' in my book as long as you are doing no harm to anyone else, if you enjoy porn then watch it, if you enjoy masturbating then enjoy it, God or whoever you believe in gave you the body you have and there are lots of things about your body that give you pleasure, if you were not meant to have pleasure why give you those things in the first place ?

its not really a sin...i don't think masturbation is in the Bible. I may be rong. but watch this video, it helped me when i was in your situation

If you feel its wrong, Try stopping. I am in the same boat =[ You feel so evil and wrong and unclean after doing it i have to stop. Its so wierd the same happened to me.

Rationalize it anyway you want. You'd have discovered masturbating eventually anyway. It's not a matter of religion, it's just your hormones wanting you to have sex and make babies and carry on the species. Masturbating is just a safe, convenient substitute. As long as it satisfies you enough that you're not dependent on porn, that's just a bonus. Every day, or several times a day, is normal. It's not a sin anyway, just a natural response to biology. Relax, enjoy, keep your door closed.

dump the porn but keep on mastrurbating
it is a normal healthy thing
nowhere in the bible is it prohibited or even mentioned
