Question: I am a very dedicated Christian. When I was younger and heard about masturbation, I was sure that I wouldnt do it because it was such a terrible sin. This fall I masturbated for the first time and have now been doing it pretty regularly. As a christian I have also made a promise to God, my future wife, and myself that I would abstain from sex. Now that ive given in to masturbation, I'm afraid that I'll give in to sex before marriage. I desperately want to keep my promise. Do you think that I can?

It is important to come to understand oneself so in my opinion masturbation is an important part of coming to know ones self. To have sexual relations with someone else is a completly seperate thing as that is a giving of your self to another that is a sacred thing. Believe in ourself and you will hold true to your morals
if you feel strongly enough to express it, i think you'll be fine!
of course you can its all up to you, but it would help if you stopped masterbating because it will be less likely you will want the real thing

Masturbation is not a sin. Masturbation is very different than sex with a partner. If you chose to stay a virgin until married that is up to you. Some people do it. I almost did.
Either way, don't get all hung up about it. God is not going to send you to hell for having sex. Sex is God's gift to men and women.
well you sound christian only in the stereotypes.i mean you separate love from sex,you even call it'sex'.if you love omeone that much,and for some reason you cant marry them right away,but need to be united to them,you dont think about it.and its'making love'.discovering your body and yourself all consist in being able to know someone else and love them as a whole.keep your urge only for masturbation,but dont make love before you meet the right one.

You seem to be doing a fine job of torturing yourself and making yourself thoroughly unhappy and miserable.Please remember that you have one life and one life only,it is not a dress rehearsal for the real thing.If it hurts nobody else,go for it,you will NOT burn in hell.Lighten up and enjoy what your self.

In by opinion it is not a sin to be human, and humans are sexual creatures, as long as you are not bringing harm or foul to yourself or to others, I don't think God will be upset with you.
Just follow your heart, if you feel like you want to practice abstinence, then do so and be happy with it, the same can be said about becoming sexual active as well. What ever you do just make sure it is the right thing for you.
