Question: dude it is underware prefrence if you do not like your junk all cooped up and roming free then you do boxers if you like your junk cooped up in a pouch then you do briefs it is all self prefrnece in underware just like if you like buttfloss you do a thong. I wear boxers because I like the feeling of being "free" I wear regular underwear when I work out or doing something active but just around the house or to the movies I like the feeling I get from boxers.
Boxers are just comfortable. Unlike briefs which keep everything up against the body. But in the end, its just a matter of personal preference. Also, boxers have lots of room in them, which briefs do not
The only reason they wear boxers is that wearing them became a fad back in the 1990's and like many fads it has yet to go away. Prior to then, you might find 2 or 3 different packages of boxers at the department store, only old men wore them. With good quality pouch style briefs now available, I think boxers as a preferred underwear will fade away in a few years. Far more people still wear briefs by the way. But boys do because their peers do, and it keeps the cyle going.

Boxers feel good to be free but it rubs up apainst you.Briefs are nice to keep your "thing" all bunched up.
I would say it's mostly because of fashion trends or peer pressure.
