I cant sleep by myself..?!

Question: I'm 14 years old and my twin and I have always slept in the room with our parents, ourselves, or one of our parents, or our sister or big brother..

We're moving next month and finally we're going to get our own room.

I'm worried. I can't sleep by myself but I want to have my own room so I can get used to it.

What to do when I get nightmares? (Besides going on the computer or turning on the light)

****IF YOU DONT KNOW THE ANSWER, DON'T ANSWER. IF YOU'RE STUPID AND DONT KNOW THE ANSWER, DON'T ANSWER. IF YOU CAN'T SPELL THE WORD "YOU"AND SAY "U" DONT ANSWER BECAUSE I'M GUESSING YOU DON'T KNOW THE ANSWER IF YOU CAN NOT TYPE PROFESSIONALLY. ANYONE WHO SAYS IDK WILL GO TO HELL. IF YOUR ANSWER HAS ANYTHING SIMILAR TO "IDK" OR "I DONT KNOW", DON'T ANSWER. WHAT I MEAN IS "i don't know, but i think it's this" BECAUSE THAT MEANS YOU'RE A ******* DUMBASS****

hi, I know where your coming from here. When I was growing up, (I'm 26 now) we lived in a small house and my brother and I shared a room. I am the youngest of 3. My parents bought a bigger house when I was about 11 and I got my own room for the first time and your right it was kind of creepy. Every sound would make me a little nervious. Well, I started off with a night light which helped a little but I could still hear the strange sounds the house setteling or whatever so i turned on the radio llow enough where I could fall asleep but loud enough to keep me from hearing any strange noises that would scare me. After a while I got used to it and no longer needed the night light but I still have a radio or tv on wen I am going to sleep I guess it i just habit. I hope this helps.

Try sleeping with a stuffed animal...or get a pet to keep you company

get a girlfriend

First of all, I know it can be hard to get reliable answers here sometimes, but such caustic writing will only incite spammers and hooligans to rattle your chain even more than usual.

On to your question: Unfortunately there isn't really any way to prevent yourself from having a nightmare except ridding yourself of stress--this is much easier to say than to do, and in fact if it were possible at all the world would be a much different place.

Stress is one of the causes of nightmares, so doing things that help you relax before you go to sleep may help reduce your chances of having a nightmare. I don't know you, so only you can know what relieves your stress, but for me it's a cup of herbal tea, some light stretching, meditation, some chilled out music, and a warm shower or bath.

If you are awakened by a nightmare, try not to focus on the images and thoughts that were terrifying. Use the power of your mind to rationalize the nightmare away--after all, it is just a figment of your brain's active imagination. Perhaps have a glass of water and then let yourself relax back into sleep.

Sleeping on your own for the first time at such an age may be difficult at first, but over time it will become easy and comfortable. Think of the positive things associated with your own room--you have your own personal space, you have more privacy now, you have a place to make your own personal sanctuary.

Good luck, and if you really have a hard time coping with sleeping on your own you might want to ask your parents to have you see a therapist who can talk you through your specific issues and help you find out treatments that will benefit you specifically.

Well your getting older now so you need te learn to start sleeping on your own. If you have a nightmare just go to your parents room. At least now you wont be kept awake by snoring! having your own room is good, you will have your own personal space and can just leave things about. And you will have your puppy so you will be ok

just sleep in your brothers room when you move or let your brother sleep with you
