I've just begun doing squats (no weigths), but I am finding it hard to walk.!

Question: Will this numb feeling subside as I do more? How many times a week should I do this. I started off by doing 4 sets of 10.

i would do something like three times a week. your muscles are sore because you tore them up. when a person works the muscles, you litterally damage the fibers. your body will come back by repairing those cells and adding a few more to try and protect itself the next time. over a period of time this is how muscles grow. for them to do this, they need rest, sometimes as much as 60hours. there is like this magic window in working out where your body is recovered, but hasnt started to atrophey yet, and that is when you want to go again. if your diet is perfect and your rest is good, your muscles can repair themselves in 48hours, but that is if everything is ideal. what steroids do for example is override this process and speed it up so you repair faster and can do more work, quicker, increasing this growth process, but at a cost to the rest of your body. if you go every other day, you should be fine if you watch your diet and rest.

mmm yeh your over working your muscles. give it time to heal. have breaks in between sessions for like a day or so. then squat away with the flies

Sounds like you have strained something .

ease up on the exercise for a fortnight then slowly increase the sets a numb feeling is natures way of telling you that you;ve overdone it

it's called Delayed Onset of Muscle Soreness (DOMS)

You have challenged your body in a way it has never had to work before. So your muscles are suffering from DOMS, the Soreness may kick in day or two after or next day. This means give your body the rest to recover - it normally lasts 1- 3 days. Rest your body until it has recovered!!!!

If any long then you have over trained and it would be a good idea to rest until all feeling of DOMS have disappeared.

after you recover and If you carry on doing body squats the pain will never come back, until they are challenge harder then they are use to.

lift every other day

do two sets instead of 4 with more weight on the 2nd set.

lift one day, then no weights and walk or run the next day.

take a sunday off now and then

eat bananas they are good for sore muscles

lol, gotta work into it slowly. The more you do the better it will get and feel.

first of all make sure you stretch your leg and after the workout strecth again. about 10 minutes at the beginning and at the end.

this will make you recover quicker.
if you find that your leg hurt still, do the squats every other day.

try not to over do it if you are in pain, you will only do more damage...

in a word yes!
