How do I get big muscles?!

Question: I am 5'10" and I've started going to the gym alot and I know there are certain things you do to achieve big muscles, I usually just do 8 reps on as much as I can manage with 3 sets on each machine, is this the right thing to do? Also I'm thinking of using protein shakes, would you recommend this, if so which one do you find works best? What do you personally do to achieve big upper body muscles? Any advice would be appreciated..

Do every muscle group at every angle. For upper body, I have a day for each of the following: a) back and biceps, b) chest and triceps, c) shoulders

So for chest and tris it usually goes...incline, flat, decline (switch up between barbells and dumbells from week to week), cable crossovers. After that, the tris. Start rope extensions on the weight where you can do about 8, then whenever you get tired move the pin up an increment until you are to 30 lbs or so. Your tris will be so swollen and shredded after 3 sets and a chest workout. You will see results in a couple of weeks.

Myoplex chocolate is probably the best tasting. If you have a blender and time you can make smoothies with the fruit flavored myoplex lights.

Just make sure you are getting plenty of protein right after your workout and throughout the day.

Yes, protein shake is good and work out hard.

Hey im in a similar posistion as you..it all depends what areas you are wanting to bulk up is it the chest back and arms? or is it all over....A good strategy is chest presses, bicep lifts, tricep lifts shoulder press and back press. I find if you concentrate on this and spent atleast an hour each time they really hit every desired muscle. As for protein shakes..go to www.myprotein.com and look at whey protein isolate NZ this is the best on the market with a massive concentration of protein and its cheap.

You could find that out in one of the Mens Fitness mags. There are lots of good ones. And there are good offers in them as well.

low reps-high sets and eat well. Get rest and work teh negative as well as the positive motions. Mix it up and go to exhaustion in every excersice. That means that if you are only doing 8 reps per set, that 7th to 8th set should be near impossible without the help of a spotter. It is almost impossible to get bulked without a workout partner! To go beyond your limits, you need a regular person there to spot you properly. If you have questions about a Workout partner, a spotter, and the proper way to spot and be spotted-ask your HS coaches-they'll know-I'd hope!

yes protein shakes help i'm pretty sure. also different exercises make different muscles stronger.

protein shakes

you are doing what you should but it takes time
