What would be a good way to test if you are in fact, in good shape?!
Question: i am 5'8", but i weight 200 lbs. Even though health sites i should weight 140 lbs, i do not feel overweight. I run daily for 10 mins straight about a mile and a half, but i know i could stand to lose a few pounds
If i really wanted to test if i am in good shape, or if i am really overweight, and desperately need to lose weight. How many miles should i try and run?
I don't want to be the kind guy who has a problem but doesn't know he has one.
3 miles? 6 miles? in what amount of time?

Most weight and height charts are WRONG. They don't take into account frame size. Here is a site to use:

There is another one out there that automatically does the calculations, but couldn't find it today.
If you can walk a mile at a good pace, and don't breath hard, and could continue on another mile without any problem, you are probably "in shape".
Wrestle a grizzly bear.
try running w/o stopping as long as you can. i am betting, if you are muscular, you are overweight, not obese. i would not worry about your weight too much, but try working as hard and safely as possible when exercising if you are worried.
I think the best thing for you to do is talk to your family doctor to determine what your weight should be. Also, he/she should design a training program for you to get you into top condition. It's kind of hard for us in here to determine if you are in good shape.
