Do doctors give vasectomies to men with only one child?!

Question: My hubby and I have one child and are considering a vasectomy to not have any more children. Do doctors feel reluctant to give vasectomies if the guy has less than two children?

I had mine done at 21 (20 years ago), and never had kids. My best buddy just did the same at 25, single and with no kids. I know a dozen others that did the same (I am a member of a child-free club). I know at least two dozen more that had them with only one child. Most were under 30.

The law only says the man need be 18. If the doctor gives him any trouble, he should go to a different doctor.

A doctor will give any guy a vasectomy - even if he has no kids. If you ask for it, and pay for it, the doctor will do it. He may recommend that you put some sperm in a bank just in case you want it later.

Some people get a vasectomy before they even have children, so I can't see why not.

it is a reproductive choice if the doctor refuses, get a new doctor

no

some people don't want kids, but want to be able to have unprotected sex and feel safe, so i would think a doctor would give it to a man no matter how many kids he does or doesn't have.

but if that's something you're concerned about (it sounds like there may be a subtle reluctance in your question), freeze some sperm, to be safe.

When I worked for a urologist, we did a lot of counseling, with and without the significant other, about how permanent the choice is. If the guy was younger, we usually asked them to go home and think on it a little more, but if they were older, we went ahead and did it usually. We did always stress how permanent the surgery is, though.

a doctor will give your husband one if he wants, but he will also make very sure that this is what you want. he may ask you mutiple times...even bringing up that you only have one. but for the most part a doctor will do one as long as he is fully clear this is what you want. good luck!

yes they'll give you one , even if you have no kids it's your choice, if your happy with the number of kids you have then go 4 it

as in the doctors being reluctant , so what as i said it's your choice

Go ask your doctor
