Will a vasectomy increase or decrease virility?!

Question: I have asked two doctors this question and can't get a straight answer.
Please don't answer this question unless you have had a vasectomy and can speak with experience.

I had a vasectomy in 1971 and I have never felt that I have lost any of my virility. When my wife was alive, the only time we did not have sex was the three months after the operation. Once the three months had past, everything was back the way it was before the vasectomy. Today, I feel just as virile as I did then. I can't imagine why the two doctors wouldn't give you a straight answer, unless, like all medicines and operations, people respond differently to the same thing and the doctors may be leery of a lawsuit if the results were not as they told you. Hope this answers your question.

It may, but don't worry. If you are a grown man already, no hormone changes will happen. Good luck.

It should have no effect at all on virility.

Decrease fertility....... if fertility is what you are talking about. You'll just shoot blanks. No semen, just fluid

I am a girl and therefore haven't experienced one, but my mother worked with one of the top docs in atlanta who specialized in mens health and it doesn't affect anything except the fact that you aren't releasing sperm when you have intercourse.

I don't believe it affects all men in the same way so the doctors cannot tell you for sure. For me nothing changed at all-orgasms seem just a little different (hard to explain) but still everything is really good.

In my experience, it lessened the drive slightly, but increased the longevity. So I don't want it quite as often, but it lasts much longer when I get it...........

If you are referring to one definition, which means able to procreate, no, it removes it.

If you mean will you still be "manly," a vasectomy just removes part or all of the vas deferens.

Vasectomy does not affect virility since sterility and virility depend upon different types of cells present in the testes. Vasectomy has no effect on sex desire or capacity

I've had a vasectomy and it didn't make any difference - the only thing worth mentioning is on a psychological level, some individuals "believe" they are less virile...guess what...they then become less virile - there's no physiological evidence to support any change though.

I haven't had one, but my husband did. There is no difference whatsoever. Your doctors should have been able to tell you this in no uncertain terms. Get a new doctor or doctors. And it is not as painful as the women getting her tubes tied. Good for you and know that only your hormone levels will be the only thing that changes your sex drive. Another thing you doctors should have told you.

If you're like me, you and your partner will be like kids with a new toy for a while - since your gun is now shooting blanks. Eventually, the novelty will wear off and you'll settle in back to normal - whatever that is for you.

- I hope that's what you meant by "virility."

Vasectomy only stops the passing of sperm. All other functions are left exactly the same. If anything, my sex drive is higher now than before my vasectomy.

My husband had one two years ago and it hasn't effected his virility at all. Not only that I have never heard of a case where a man's libido was negatively impacted by this procedure. As a matter of fact, things got a little more relaxed for us since we didn't need to "worry" about anything happening.
Good luck to you!

Vasectomies have no side effects. Logically speaking it is not possible for a vasectomy to affect your virility.

I had mine done 20 years ago. I know a lot of men that have had them. None have ever complained about any change of any kind.

The reason the doctor can't give you a straight answer is simple. Some men have psychological hangups with getting a vasectomy. Those men feel they have lost something. Others feel more sexual because they no longer have to worry about birth control, so they feel they have gained something.

Most men say they enjoy sex more after they have a vasectomy. All that is in their head because there is no change.
