damn dude.... don't listen to the jack as s above. But i must say that 5'5" is pretty short, although i was that tall at that age, now I'm 19 and 5'8" (which is average). But considering your heritage, I'm no too sure. I'm asian so i understand.....
I believe the overall average for India is about 168 to 170 cm for men, but since there are different ethnic groups in India, this is only a general observation.
If you are 17, you may continue to grow very slowly into your 20s, so you might gain another 2-3 cm. This is a bit more likely if you've grown gradually for quite a few years, as the same hormones that promote rapid growth also cause growth to stop sooner.
