One guy tells you to put it on before an erection and another tells you to do it after! Confusing? Yeah, but they both are correct, depending on what type you are putting on.
The kind that snap on, use Velcro or some other fastener can and should be put on after one has achieved an erection.
However, the solid ones, like the metal ring kind HAVE to be put on before the erection. If your b/f is considering this kind, have him buy the 3 ring set, this way he can try them all and see which is more comfortable for him, if they are too small, they do make them bigger, just contact the place you bought the first set from and they will steer you in the right direction. He should not experience any pain while wearing one, if he dose, then he should immediately remove it! It is recommended that one should not wear a "c" ring any longer then 30-45 minutes (not 4hrs as mentioned by another).
Have him check out what kinds are available and decide which he would like to try, I suggest one that removes easily for his first one until he gains some experience with it, this way he can remove it fast if he has to. Once he gains some experience with it and becomes comfortable, he can try the solid ring kind.
