For the same reason that most of the questions on the women's side are along the line of 'can I be pregnant' or 'am I too fat.' Lack of knowledge about what is 'normal' in human experience and anxiety about what the other sex views as desirable. Since all we have to look at are unrealistic models in magazine and actresses, and since men look at other men's genitals mostly in the context of pornographic movies, again, those people are not in the mainstream of average human size.
It's not the size that matters men, because most women (like over 90%) don't get orgasms from thrusting alone. And quite frankly, if someone is too large, they are bumping my cervix, which is quite painful to me, and is not a turn on. It's not size guys, it's technique, so learn your female anatomy and stop worrying about your own.
