I highly recommend the Kegal exercises.
and NO it is not just for sexual purposes. it tones and strengthens the many muscles down there.

How to do it:
slowly flex the muscles there like you are stopping urine flow mid stream and slowly relax. repeat about a dozen times. you can do this several times a day. and you can do this at any time. no one can see you doing it!

i also agree with a previous poster.. don't hold it if you can easily go.

The best treatment that I found for my frequent "peeing" (usually a prostrate issue) and other aging issues is with MaxGXL ( a glutathione accelerator). More information available here.

  • On the contrary, holding it in will only make it WEAKER. The best thing you can do is pee as soon as you get the urge. You cannot strengthen it, but you can prevent it from getting weaker. Do NOT make the mistake of holding it in!

Who are the 2 morons who thumbed me down? Ask any doctor whether I'm right or wrong.

The only way is to train the muscle. this can only be done by resisting the temptation to pee as much as possible.

Obviously this is not all that easy it is not as straight forward as weight training because when you get to the point of failure you cant just not lift the weight , you pee yourself .

weak bladder can be a nervous thing as well. You may have noticed that sometimes when you feel the need to go , if you have to hold the urge , sometimes the urge dissappears completely , this shows that there is a psychological aspect to it.

I dont know if tensing the muscles is possible , I know that you can do kegel exercises and they recommend that you tense the muscles as if you were avoiding the need to pee, I dont know if the exercise actually targets the bladder or if it is possible. kegel exercises are for sexual health reasons usually i think. I may be wrong .

edit: I have to politely disagree with the first answer from brit.

the bladder is a muscle. If you hold the urge then technically the bladder i guess would become fatigued but it should respond to training like any other muscle. Not straight away but over the mid term , say weeks you should see improvement if you persevere.

Kegel muscle exercises. This is when you flex the muscle you would use to stop urinating.

I had the same problem. I would get up 5 times or more at night to go pee. I found a kidney cleanse did the trick for me. It really works. You can hold it in, but it is recomended not to do so for to long, an hour at most. If you don't go when your body tells you to (this is when the urine enters the urinary tract) then you can get a urinary tract infection. NO FUN! I included a link to the cleanse that I used with good results. Good luck to you.

Just make do with what you have
