my dad has side burns, they went out of style in the 1970's, but if you like them then go for it. side burns dont grow from your head hair, they grow from hair folicles in the side of your head and face, having long hair only makes the little stub of hair in front of your ears longer, it does not make it grow down. if you are able to grow a beard, you should be able to grow side bursn, if not wait for puberty to take its course
