I'm having flashbacks?!

Question: I been in the military for a while. i served in vietnam from 1967-1970, trained troops in jungle combat in the 80s, and served in desert storm. i even tried to enlist after 9/11. I ve been having flashback mostly of vietnam for the past month. i haven't been under any stress and this is the first time ive had them. I only told my wife. i think it's because my two sons want to join the army any advice.

therapists cause more trouble than they cure.....tell your kids what you are going through...they are adults and merely following their own father's line of work....if you were a doctor you wouldda been proud of them..but now tht ur a solder u can't help but think about their safety....these flashbacks are a result of that.....tell them all these things..if they understand then may be they'll choose another line of work....

Go to a doctor! It is very serious.

thank you for serving the country...
i can only say,to avoid n e thing that has to do with the war...
if the visions continue,see a doctor,therapist
good luck

You really need to talk to somebody, About your flashbacks, I truly wish that I could help you....

I wish i could tell you how to deal with your flash backs...i have been serving since 1995 and am getting ready for my 7th combat tour in june and i have had problems with night mares. the only thing that helps for me is talking to a very trusted friend about the things that really happened during my tours....talk to your wife about everything even the worst things...I can't even begin to tell you how much it helps me having a friend who will just be there and let me vent or cry or what ever it is that i need ...the more i talk to her about these things the fewer night mares i have.
