How do I put on weight?!


Question: I am 37, male, 6 foot 3 and weight of 11 stones so quite skinny. I always have been but I really want to put on weight but just can't. I have tried the gym, I eat plenty but nothing has ever worked. Does anyone know how or am I doomed to be skinny forever? (I don't smoke either)

well a good diet is the key to gaining weight! believe it or not but by eating as if you were on a diet will help you to put on weight. you can also drink protien supplements but you have to workout with weights and the weight from protin shakes wont last unless you keep up with exercise.

good dieting includes good protiens and fruits and vegetables and also healthy snacks is essential. because you wont want to lose weight you will have to eat anything you want at least once or twice a week ( ice cream, pizza, cake etc.)

protiens include: egg whites, shrimp, salmon, fish, chicken breast, sliced low sodium turkey or chicken and seafoods

veggies include: broccoli, spinach, salads , avocado are some that are on the top of the list

fruits include : any berries, green apples peaches plums are some on top of the list

and healthy snacks include almonds, popcorns, dark chocolates, wheat breads, etc.

also adding 2 tbs. olive oil extra vigin to your veggies and protiens will help you to not lose the weight while dieting plus its real good for you and remember you must exercise with weights to gain weight, if youd like you can start out with a resistance band, they are real good for putting on quick muscles!!!

Try protein supplement.

Some people are just built skinnier than others. But I guess you could try protein shakes and things like that :)

You might just have to realise that you are a naturally thin person but i would recommend if this is the case you just accept that is how you are and try to love yourself for it. I would recommend using words such as an athletic figure or lithe rather than skinny which is quite negative.

As you say, have plenty to eat but keep eating heathily. I would reccomend trying to eat foods that are higher in fat that others. Nuts, avocado, seeds, dried fruit are all food that are high in good fats so will keep you healthy but will help you to gain weight. Also cheese and full fat milk. Dairy is a dietary requirement and in large quantities is very fattening. I wouldnt recommend you gorge yourself (everything in moderation). Also lots of carbohydrates such as pasta and potatoes will bulk you out more.

theres a supplement called phd synergy, contains protein / creatine etc... if you work out couple times a week on this it will help you gain lean mass, oh and dont skip meals.

I would definitely suggest using whey protein because it will naturally help u gain weight but u have to use it after being in the gym. goo luck!

Your metabolism is probably REALLY high. Try eating more protein-rich foods and lifting heavier weights. You may always have a thin build but these things should help you bulk up, at least a little bit.

-pastas!
-Oats!
-Potatoes! etc etc!
Eat alot and expect weight!

im skinny and i do nothing, i sit and eat chocolate and watch t.v, im the defination of slob, but i dont put on weight, and i have a very high motabalism( lucky me :D), just eat lots of protein and carb rich foods and do lots of exercise. STEROIDS>

I dont think anyone who answered above knows 11 stones is 154 lbs. That is underweight! Chances are you have a thyroid problem. You need to get that checked out by a doctor and treat it
