If he goes with someone who has nothing, he can be seen as her "hero" and may get some type of power/ego trip knowing that that woman is exclusively dependant on him for money and any other monatary means, in return, I'm sure he'll be breaking her spirit in the sense that she'll feel bound to him to return any financial favors he has.
