Why are men so worried about their manliness?!

Question: They never want to wear pink. They never like to cry in front of people when they're seeing a movie. Never want to show they have feelings. Always want to appear tough. Never want to admit they look at themselves in the mirror.

Why? Why, why, why?

If something thinks you're gay, big deal! You're always fretting about what other people think. Tell me why.

It's hard-wired into our brains. Evolutionarily speaking, men had the often difficult task of hunting big game. More importantly, they were charged with protecting their families, clan, tribe, etc. Just watch ANY pack of monkeys, baboons, chimpanzees, or gorillas (they have to be social, and not solitary apes) and you will see the males rush to confront an attacking leopard. They do so, even at the risk of their lives. The pay-off was that the females would mate with them and their genes would be passed on. A male that could not defend the family or pack was useless - and would be rejected by the females. The male need not have been a wimp, an illness or injury could have weakened him. But the end result was the same.

Thus, we evolved those traits that would allow us to be able to master fear and, if need be, fight to the death against a hungry predator. Those traits are - you guessed it - stoicism, a reluctance to express fear (that's why we don't like to talk about our "feelings." Our feelings may be FEAR!) And we like to check ourselves out and compare ourselves to other men because our heredity is that of competition for food, sex, and rock-and-roll.

Go grow a mustache, put dirt all over you and scratch your private parts in public, fart in front of the opposite sex(friends of course) tell me if this feels good. Then you understand why guys don't want to act like girls.
It's basically why Do women where pretty clothes, makeup, always want to buy nice things, ect. why don't they act like guys and just chill? Why do they act so emotional. Maybe it's the media portraying guys for guys and girls for girls. Your typically brainwashed by the things you watch.

It's how we were raised! The man of the house has to be strong and set an example for the kids to follow. A male role model is suppose to be a leader and strong. Not just physically but also mentally.

Boys are told, starting at early age (about 5), to be a man about things, not to cry. According to Maggie Hamilton's book 'what men don't talk about', this creates men that have trouble expressing feelings and emotions. That might explain it. Read it, it's not a 'men's only ' to read.

Because if the man is too girlish...the women will complain again...so in conclusion...let man be man, and women be women...if man is too unbearable...there is another option

the answer to your question actually comes from the dawn of man...and it is still in our genetic make up. men are the hunter gatherers and had to be strong and with out fear (or emotion) to attract a mate back when it was all about the survival of the fittest. the time of luxuries we live in now did not begin untill around 100 years ago may seem like plenty of time to work out these simple things but when you consider that the time when man truely was the hunter gatherer lasted more than 2000 years i think it is safe to say that it will be sometime yet before we men are comfortable to show emotions in public as we fear it will be seen as a sign of weakness.

It is drilled into your head from birth!

I am gay and I still don't like for people to see my cry, so it is not just straight guys.
