HELP my 4 year old son's penis is swollen??!
Question: OK im scared its really late right now to go to the doctor,,we are going in the mornin,,but untill then can anyone help us or has had this prob..he is uncircumcised he told me his peepee hurts so i looked at it and the head of it is red and the shaft close to the head looks swollen or something like that its on the side of the shaft...he says it does not hurt to pee though?hmmm i am soo worried im calling the doc in the mornin ....but what in the world could this be??it just happend,,so fast i dont have no clue !!!!

my 3 yr old son had this last year and i took him to docs and he had an infection and they gave him antibitoics and straight away the redness went within 1 day .my doctor said if it happened again he would have to be circumcised but thank god hes been fine but i know who worrying it can be i hope hes fine in the mouring good luck xx

sometimes uncircumsized boys get an infection like that sometimes it's from not getting cleaned enough. If u got some A&D ointment or neosporin around put that on it make sure u put a lot on it. That should hold him over until u get him to the doc.
Phimosis is where the foreskin is too tight. Sometimes when the head is exposed the skin is too tight to go back around the head causing swelling. This is a serious issue but if you go in the morning he should be fine. Also sometimes young children play with their genitals a lot and this may be a result.
It might be phimosis or infection either one but either are serious and you should go to the E.R. if there is anyway at all that you can go. If you have to call 911 and tell them you are worried about your sons health.
Try not to freak out. You'll frighten him!
Any number of things could have caused this. Think. Did you recently change detergents? Bath soap? Introduce a new food or beverage? It could be an allergic reaction to any of those things. He also could have been bitten by an insect (unlikely, but possible.)
He also could have injured himself slightly playing with his penis. It is not uncommon for children to innocently do that.
Also, he does not have to have the skin retracted to clean under the foreskin. Tub baths will effectively clean him without doing that, which may cause irritation. If you have taught him to retract the foreskin to cleanse himself, STOP that practice.
Relax. If he is not in pain you can wait until morning. Just tuck him into bed, sans underpants, on clean sheets.
Don't feel guilty about not circumcising. I think you made the right choice. There is no reason to hack off the foreskin, unless your religious convictions or a medical condition occurs later in life that mandates it. The latter, btw, is very rare.
I believe it psychologically healthier to leave the foreskin alone.
with him being 4 years old i would get him to a doctor, and setup a circumcision.
that's another good reason boys should get circumcised at birth !
