Will I need protein shakes to grow?!

Question: I'm 5'9", 16 years old going on 17, and I've lost some weight recently but still the few flabs here and there. However, I'm also trying to build muscle as I'm quite big already. So . . . .

a) Will weight training stunt my growth?

b) Will protein shakes help? and . .

c) Whether I need them or not, can u give me the nutritional information for a chocolate protein shake

No amount of weight training will ever stunt your growth.

Protein shakes will help you build muscles as most people do not normally consume enough protein in their normal diet and the protein shakes help supplement the amount of protein most lifters need.

The nurtritional value will change depending on what brand makes it. Muscle milk's info will be different than say Slim Fast protein. You just need to go to Wal-Mart and look up the back of any of the ones that interest you and you'll get all the information you'll need.

First of all, weight training stunting your growth is the biggest load of crap i have ever heard. I have researched on that and it actually helps the body grow strong. Secondly, protein shakes are going to make you gain weight no matter what you do, but it all depends on you whether its going to be fat or muscle. If you drink the protein shakes without regular exercise then your probably going to gain weight (fat) in unwanted areas of the body like your stomach, legs, etc. Last, as far as nutrition goes, it all depends on the brand. Different brands of shakes have different nutrients added.

a> weight training wll not stunt your growth. dont do it for weight training alone wiich u will automatically put on as the years go by.. join a gym n do a complete physical workout..

b> protein shakes do help. try B-protein (in india) .. it seems it helps the person taking it to grow taller faster..

c> im sorry abt the nutritional info for choco protein shake..u cna get it newhere u want..

PS: when u work out, ive herd that taking the protein powder "Serious Mass" is perfect for the protein supplement to put on weight..along with the gym workouts...

Weight training will not stunt your growth.
When training, you stretch your muscles. Muscles are built from protein, but protein does not get stored by the body. Protein shakes, if enjoyed after a training session, will provide
your system with the protein needed to build your body. The chocolate may be another matter if it contains a lot of fat, but i is probably a fat free chocolate flavouring in a protein drink, anyway. Protein tablets from your gym may be a better alternative. Ask your trainer. The ideal weight for a man of your size is a little under 79 kilograms.

Not really because i think you actually grow due to all the protein you take into your body after your workout.I've been working out for about a year and a half and i actually grew.I was about 5'7 last year now I'm 5'11.You will probably stop growing if you do power cleans or squats anything that pushes your body to the floor.I would recommend 100% Whey protien from GNC store.
