Going in for a circumcision soon. Any advice?!

Question: I am a 36 year old male and feel it is time for me to circumcise my whang. My buddy said you dont feel a thing through the whole procedure and it is as harmless as going in for a checkup. I feel very confident about this procedure and am looking forward to it. Anyone whosever had a circumcision, do you agree with this?

I was circumcised later in life as well, its not as bad as others want you to think. My advice to you is just try not to get an erection during the first week of recovery, other than that man it's really not that bad. I'd do it again if i had to. I've had no regrets don't let envious others try to steer you a way from what your trying to do. Good luck.

its yours do what you like. i'm uncut and cant imagine doing it, im kinda fond of my foreskin for lotsa reasons. good luck, dude

Why would you want to mess with your sexual organ?

I have to say, at least you have the choice...still 50% of newborn boys in the US don't.

don't

if your parents didn't circumcise you when you were younger

why do it now ??

Do you really know what you're doing? You're cutting off about 1/3 of the most sexually responsive tissue of your penis. It will not come back. The skin on the knob of your penis will dry out, thicken, and become less sensitive. Some men who have had this done say it was like going from normal sight to being color-blind.

It's not as harmless as a checkup. It's a surgical procedure, and carries the risk of infection or surgical accident. You're numbed up and feel nothing while they're doing it, but I bet it hurts a lot afterward. To say nothing of phantom limb pain.

Make sure you know all the implications of this decision. It's not something you should do because of a whim, because "it's time". This action will affect the rest of your life. If I had a foreskin, I wouldn't throw it away. I'm sorry mine was taken when I was a baby.

Why would you want to circumsise yourself? As long as you keep it clean you really don't have any worries, unless you think you are going to be in long term care in the hospital, and then nurses don't really like to deal with cleaning it as much.

Seriously, why would you bother? I actually prefer uncut guys.

I feel sorry for your stupidity. You dont know what you got until its gone. Your going to lose the most sensitive part of your penis.. Or should i say the most Sensitive part of your Body.

Why do you want this done anyways?

i had mine done as a kid, i didnt even know i was cut til i looked it up, i heard it can hurt like hell when the numbness goes

hmmm... at first it will hurt but when the doctor inject the liquid that removes the pain then it is okay... omg i can still remember my circumcision and i have a very hard week!!! iam still 12...how old are you?

I chose to be circumcised when I was 40 in respones to my (then new) wifes strong preference for circumcised. I had no medical reason to be circumcised, but it was just about the best thing that I have ever done. Circumcision has provided me with better hygiene, comfort, self-esteem, penile appearance and FAR FAR better sexual sensation and pleasure during intercourse, both for me and for my wife. Most mature experienced women, whio have tried both an uncut and circumcised men as sexual partners, overwhelmingly prefer a circumcised man - just ask a few!!
There are NO disadvanteges to being circumcised and you should ignore those envious uncut kids who are trying to tell you that foreskins are wonderful - they are not! These kids cannot possibly have any idea about the multiple and very real benefits of being circumcised and the enhanced sexual pleasure that it brings for both the man and his female partner(s). Congratulations on your decision to be circumcised - it will not hurt and the only discomfort you will experience will be during nightly erections for the first 10 days or so, while the stitches are in. These erections will make the stitches pull strongly and will wake you up, but just get out of bed and walk around until they go down. You will be delighted with the final result, I assure you!

EDIT - Oleander, I have listed and detailed the numerous benefits of circumcision from the mans point of view, above and also many times before. Read and learn! If you need to hear more, just ask any mature sexually experienced woman who has tried sex with both an uncut and a circumcised man - she will soon tell how much better it is for the woman when her man is circumcised!

I would say good luck, but also you will want to kiss a great deal of your sensitivity goodbye. When you get your foreskin removed, you are removing a great deal of the nerve endings located in the foreskin, so you lose a great deal of sensitivity there. On top of that, your newly exposed glans will sting for a while after you get circumcised, and for good reason; It no longer has your foreskin to protect it, and because it no longer has it's protection, it'll will constantly be rubbing against your clothing. Since you can't live life in discomfort from your sensitive glans rubbing against your clothes, your glans will callous over so that the calloused layer will dull the sensitivity enough so that you won't be in discomfort anymore. This is similar to how hands or feet callous after constant use, and how you have dulled sensation of heat and cold where those callouses are. I personally do not think that circumcision is worth it; it's really not going to matter for aesthetic reason, as someone who's going to care for you won't even obsess themselves over how your penis looks. The only people who will care how your penis will look are the shallow and ignorant, and usually the type of people who live life from one lover to the next. If you want that kind of life, then go right ahead and get circumcised, but you're not going to be content with that sort of lifestyle no matter how you spin it. Also, cleaning an uncut penis is a breeze, as you should know, and nothing worth getting surgery over. As for the supposed disease resistance, that's unfortunately a myth. Disease spreads as easily with a cut penis as with an uncut one, the remaining skin on the penis and the glans itself still can spread disease. As for supposed protections fro penile cancer, well that can only be myth as well. How can a natural bodily part create cancer more than the lack of the part? Cancer is more or less random or caused by carcinogens, and the foreskin is neither. While UTIs have been reported as more prevalent in uncut men, there is a reason. The majority of uncut men in America for a time were the impoverished, and they are not exactly known for hygiene, so of course, infections are more common, and anyone doing surveys on uncut men against cut men will indeed get skewed results showing that uncut men have more UTI cases. Also, little realized fact, you'll be spending a lot more money than the initial circumcision. You'll need to purchase lube, which you don't need with foreskin, and since you'll need lube to masturbate or have sex a majority of the time, well, you're going to be continuously spending money. So in essence, you pay more with a circumcision than you do when you remain intact. So, in all, I would keep my foreskin, in fact I have chosen to, I like sensitivity and my money. If you must choose circumcision, I wish you the best of luck, but do realize what you will be losing when you choose to go under the knife.

Trust me. I'm 18, Ive seen both worlds I'm 1 1/2 years in since my umm... ya, the first time i had sex with my girl friend i was uncircumcised of course it was great, that was early 2007. now she says its better, and it is, you can go longer and the pay off is even better.

have fun. the drugs they give you are great.

Dear Kwanhans,

So you are getting curcumsized. There are two (or three?) types of circumcision. One is partial and the other one is complete. Pls. chect which one you have to do or take advice from a good doctor. The procedure is harmless provided u take care, post operative care. i advice to go for it if only something wrong with it physically, like more loose foreskin, closing the pee hole, not retracting when erect, etc., this are reasons circumcision is done. If you want cut it jus tfor fun or cause your friends done it, pls. dont.

Congratulations on your choice to be circumcised. It's certainly not a fate worse than death as some youngsters suggest. Local anaesthetic takes care of all the pain. Immediately post op my penis looked awful - as if someone had rapped it hard with a pool cue! but once the bruising and swelling subsided after about 2 weeks everything was fine. I also developed a crusty scab on the glans in the first couple of days as it dried out and this soon fell away and now 28 years later I can honestly say I have never regretted the operation.

My advice? Don't do it!

go for it full hearted....this is the best thing that you can do for your body...i'm 19 and wishing that this had been done to me when i was younger....i plan to get this done soon though.....u inspire me!

Any advice? Yeah. After 36 years of having a complete, intact penis, what's the point in getting bits of it chopped off now?
Stupid if you ask me. And your "buddy" obviously isn't very well informed about the procedure...

I was cut at 18! Was circumcised in office with a local, was able to watch the entire procedure. I was told to ice it the first few day to keep the swelling down. After that it was a bit sore, but nothing Motrin couldn't handle. I would do it again in a NY minute. It is much cleaner, proven healthier for both partners and improves sex! Having been on bothsides, I had no hesitation to have my sons (1&3) circumcised .

i just wanted to say i think you are doing right by getting it done, i am gatting a circumcision in mid april myself, so best of luck to you

I'm sorry to hear about your loss. I would be against it. Foreskin protects your gland and is useful during masterbation. Also foreskin helps woman reach orgasm much more quicker.
With a circumcised man, vanal secretions are lessened and she experiences vaginal dryness.
With an uncircumsized man, they don't experience dryness as the bunched up foreskin inside blocks the natural lubrication from keaving the vagina.
Some woman love to play with the foreskin. (and on the other side of the coin, so do men too).
Foreskin is natural and it is God-given.
I would say keep it for life. Don't worry so much about what it looks like. You can always turn out the light and do it in the dark.

Sure, it's harmless...

Well, I was gonna say don't do it but you're almost forty and you're kinda old so you're not gonna have as much sex as you did but if you get cut, you're gonna have a lousy(lousier) sex life.

Don't do it.
