Problem with insomnia?!


Question: i work the night shift and this weekend was stressful at work and my gf has had major issues - see prev. question - and now i'm done and can't sleep? my eyes are burning but my mind won't shut up and i'm' wasting time on here. wtf is wrong with me?

Your mind is active. At bedtime is when you should unwind but that is when things really get to you.
Try to sleep on a regular schedule. Go to bed the same time. I sleep during the day because I work the graveyard hours. Keep your room dark. Cover the windows. Your brain must have 8 hours of R.E.M. Just a little bit of light, from a radio, a light bulb, or tiny LCD light on a computer or VCR can disturb this REM rest you need.
You need the 8 hours for your mind and body to rejuvenate and be restful. Your skin needs the rest too and will become more younger and fresher after the 8 hours sleep. Your body needs to heal during this time. As you notice, your breathing and your heart naturally slows down into the sleeping mode.
I try the radio, the fan, a sound machine with rain, ocean, river and I try the lavender spray on my pillows and sheets. lavender helps induce sleep too.
Masterbation also puts a man to sleep afterwards.
Other suggestions: warm milk, a little reading or an old movie, preferably a western with the indians yowling on it. This old indian sound effect actually helps put people to sleep too.

take some tylenol PM it works like a charm.

What i would call what you are ahving is that you are used to the week of having such emotional stress, your mind can't get over it.

I bet you keep on dwelling on the exboyfriend hitting your girlfriend. Nate, get over it, let it go. Get some sleep, take somesleeping pills. THe reason your eyes are red is becasue youve been up to long stressing about everything. Take a breather. Thats my advice to you, use it.

It is in large part due to stress and the time you are working. A family member of mine suffers from the same thing and the only way they can relax is by distracting their minds. Reading, watching tv, crossword games or puzzles will sometimes help. Additionally, they drink chamomile tea and take valerian root (a natural herbal supplement) that helps relax them. Hope this helps.

I wkd 3rds for many yrs and sometimes I too couldn't sleep.
Make sure your room is dark....take an Advil PM and slip on some headphones w/ low volume music.....

try to relax, your under a lot of stress..dont take any caffeine for a week ...try natural sleeping relaxing teas or pills from valeriana ..get some rest ... You will feel better after this.......
