it is not mandatory, but you may want to just to make the process easier, it may make you feel more comfortable and less self concious. But dont worry the nurse and doctor will help you right along and make you feel at ease, dont do anything that may make you feel uneasy.

Yes, they will shave you just because they don't want a stray hair getting into the incision. They in fact will shave the entire pubic area and sometimes even the inner thighs if you are really hairy.
