Pubic hair is there for a number of reasons, the main one being your body's way of holding onto pheromones.

Your body produces pheromones to attract the opposite sex, the pubic hair is there to hold the scent close to your body (otherwise they would just float away).

I find it interesting that in the last decade there has been a fashion to shave pubs away as much as possible...I wonder if this is why in the same period women have started to dress far more provocatively...perhaps there is a relationship between the two.

No pubes = no pheromones
no pheromones = fewer olfactory sex signals
fewer olfactory sex signals requires more visual sex symbols...just a thought

To keep the centipedes out.

They are natures way of protecting the male sperms journey from the scrotum to the Vagina and to the egg keeping it as warm as possible as simple as that. Yes you can trim with a sharp pair of scissors

I shave my balls and trim my pubes. It feels good when i masterbate and especially when I have sex with my wife.

lol
they are their for proctection
Yeah its ok to trim them or shave it all off.
razor etc...

Temperature regulation/sweat control. Apparently, a shaven haven makes one a better lover. Phhht. Like oysters and deer velvet, I supppose. Yeah, right.

There is no clear reason for why we have pubic hair. The most common belief is that it's to help retain secretions believed to attract the opposite sex.

That's not say it's always a good thing. In the animal world it would help let others know what sex you are. But in our world, you have to be careful because BO in particular is a turn off. As for the crotch...well I hear some people like the musty smell that oftens originates there.

EDIT: It's not for temp control. The balls regulate temperature by dropping lower when they are too warm and pulling up closer to the body when they are too cold.
