Hi,

This could be what people call "smegma". It's a build up of dead skin cells, normal skin bacteria, and such within the folds of the penile skin. It is similar to the odor that can arise from build up of similar dead cells in the labia of females. PLEASE : ignore any of the rude and denigrating comments from the users above. You obviously care about him, and some of these ppl are just using your earnest question as a chance to rip on you and your boyfriend.

Smegma is usually found as either a semi-clear gel or fluid, OR as a whitish, wet-ish goo in the foreskin region of the penis, just under the penis head where it meets the shaft. Some ppl crudely refer to it as "dick-cheese", but whatever... everyone gets from time-to-time and no-one who is mature should be ashamed. It's totally normal.

Ask yourself (or him) the following questions:

1) is he circumcised or not?

Uncut guys have a harder time preventing buildup of smegma because the foreskin traps the cells and fluids from pre-ejaculate (pre-***) more easily. However, if he occasionally pulls back the foreskin while showering and washes the area with soap and water, this should remedy the problem.

Always be careful when washing with soap, because it can get in the urethra (pee-hole) and burn like muth-f-cka when peeing..ouch. I'm sure everyone is familiar with that from adolescent bath-time mishaps? if not... good on ya' :)

2) Does he make a regular attempt to wash the area around the head of his penis (called the glans) with some gentle cleanser or soap and water (like, once a week or so, minimum)?... particularly, the crevice area between the head and the shaft region...where they join up, ya' know... because that is the place most likely to collect all the unwanted "baggage".

3) Do you have frequent sex ( 1 or more times per day, multiple days in a row?) If he is not thoroghly cleaning each day, then he will be harboring some of the vaginal bacteria, the leftover *** and pre-***, and all the vaginal and penile cells that shed during intercourse in the crevice of the head and shaft I mentioned above. A simple wet-wipe will remove most of the debris, but will probably not remove the odor. He'll need to shower or wash with a cloth to get rid of that scent.

Side note: this is true for the ladies too. Those sex-stink juices and debris can be mighty potent. But it's worth it, right :)

4) It could be that he does, in fact, have some kind of STD. I would carefully consider the 2 points above 1st though before you accuse/ask him of/about the possibility of an STD. no need to go weapons hot on the first pass, eh? :) if you suspect this.. ask him to get checked and be supportive.. or dump him and get checked yourself. it really depends on your relationship at that point :(

5) he might also have a UTI, but this is somewhat unlikely given the male anatomy. It can and does happen, but not as often as females get them.. sorry ladies, it just has to do with the presence of the penile shaft .. it's somewhat protective of the bladder and what-not.

I hope this helps a bit. I think most likely a small change in his cleaning schedule and/or ritual will drastically improve this problem.

thanks for your concern and bravery on his behalf. That's awesome :)

take care!

Tell him to stop carrying the trash out with it.

(You know how they are always trying to prove weird things..)

He might have some sort of infection, unless you want to catch it too. I would say avoid any sexual activity until it clears up.

Does it smell like Dr. Pepper?

tell him to take a bath.
you too!

Could be some kind of VD tell him to see a doctor

Does he change his underwear often? I wouldnt let him poke it at you.

This means he could not be washing it with soap in the shower. Tell him to. he could be masturbateing with somthing stinky. you should give him some Equate Personal Lube. Or maby some lotion. One that aint hard on da skin, or else it will get REALLY ITCHY!!!!!&$^$*(#&@!!!)((*

Shower much??

Boys have cooties, you really should find yourself a hot lesbian instead.

Ewwwwwww...dirty b@stard...

explain why you've been sniffing his penis.

but he needs to bathe.

maybe he caould spray some right guard down there, after all it's "strong enough for a man, but made for a woman"

i agree with dingelbury.

Why would you take chances and how do you even stand to be near him? Next time it's out (and I guess it is since you've smelled it), just have some bleach ready to dip it in and use a scrub brush to scrub nice hard and disinfect it good. Then, it should be clean enough to eat ..well, anyways....

amen, let's eat!

If he showers daily or even every other day I would say it is most likely an infection of some sort, so he should probably go to the doctor.... and you should avoid sexual contact, including oral... talk about bad breath :D

Lol, and dont clean it with bleach. One thing to keep in mind though, he can clean himself too much. Probably not with water unless he scrubs really hard, but supposeably soap and similiar products also gets rid of the good bacteria/body secretions leaving you more open to infection.

Dingelbury is right...

No it wont' cause any harm. I suspect he is uncut (has a foreskin) and doesn't wash under it enough -- if he is cut or washes under the skin regularly, then you are just hypersensitive, all male organs do have an odor, the same as female ones do -- but I don't consider that bad. If he is uncut and doesn't wash under it regularly, show him this and gently retract it for him and wash the head with a gentle soap and water. This is something he should do (or you) every day. In that case, the smell will quickly go down to the average for male organs.

Kind thoughts,

Reyn

wash his penis for him it'l sure be fun!

Obviously he is uncircumcised and is not attending to the essential washing procedure which all uncircumcised men must carry out regularly. An uncircumcised man needs to pull his foreskin right back to expose the groove behind the head and wash the area thoroughly with warm water and mild soap at least twice a day. Better still, get him to have a circumcision, or find a circumcised boyfriend (sex will feel much better for you as well if your partner is circumcised!)

Just tell him to use some soap when he washes it. Mine was kinda smelly once, too, but I started using soap and it fixed the problem.

I can't believe some women here are telling you to turn lesbian...and some idiots are actually telling u to cut that poor man's foreskin...or to even dump him and get a new bf....wow....

Yes, it wiould make ur vagina smell like curry powder. Stay away, he might have THE HIV virus. Love him now while he is still alive.
