I'm also a boxer person, they're much better.
I've tried going commando, it is slightly uncomfortable at times, but theres really no point doing that.

I wear briefs because they feel more comfortable to me. Once in a while in the summer I go commando just for fun. You just have to be extremely careful when you zip up.
